It’s definitely starting to feel like fall in Philadelphia, and we’re loving it here at Philly PR Girl! We can’t wait for pumpkin picking, leaves falling, Eagles cheering and, above all else, the fall fashion whirring throughout the city! Trends can be hard to keep up with, especially with a busy schedule. That’s why we have put together a list of the top fall trends of 2014 that everyone can easily add to their existing wardrobe, comfortably afford and pull off stylishly.
Fringe: It seems like everywhere you turn, there is a bit of fringe. Fringe tees were popular during summer music festivals, but in leather or velvet form, it turns into a fabulous fall trend. Keep an eye out for fringe tote bags and fringe sweaters or even fringe accents on leather booties. Don’t be afraid to incorporate it into your wardrobe by testing the waters with a small piece at first, maybe with a fringe clutch. If you love the trend, then build up to bigger pieces that create more of a statement!
Soft Tones: Sometimes it’s hard to let go of the pastels from spring/summer, and we are okay with it. Soft tones like light blue, pale pink, camel and gray are all major colors this fall, and they’re so easy to incorporate into your wardrobe. These muted tones suit most complexions. If you want to be bold, dress in a monochromatic outfit with head-to-toe camel, or if you are just experimenting, pair any of the soft tones with your everyday outfit by using accessories.
Turtlenecks: You can’t go wrong with a chic turtleneck. The traditional, chunky turtleneck sweaters is a classic, but try putting a modern spin to it this fall. A simple fitted cropped turtleneck can transform any average outfit into a crisp, edgy outfit. Wear it with jeans and a tote bag, and you have a fabulous outfit for running errands. Or you can dress it up by pairing it with a pleated skater skirt and black pumps.
Wrap Coats: Wrap coats not only keep you extremely warm, they have a way of making any outfit look effortlessly stylish. Don’t be afraid to try them in colors you wouldn’t normally wear. After all, they are a layering piece, and they should be an added bit of fun to your outfit! Combine this trend with the soft tones trend, and look for pale pinks or light blue wrap coats for your fall/winter coat!
Hats: Although we all love beanies to keep warm, we’re referring to a slightly more sophisticated hat this season. Beautiful wide-brimmed wool hats are on trend and there are plenty of variations. Wear this fall accessory when you are running errands, with a simple legging, a sweater cape and flat booties to add an element of style. Or you can wear it with a thick knitted maxi dress with knee socks and lace up booties for a fabulous bohemian look.
While there are many trends to cover this season, we focused on pieces that can help vamp up your wardrobe easily. The best part is you can feel incredibly comfortable doing so. Enjoy this brisk autumn weather, remember that layering is the key to fall styling and, above all, have fun!
