Where to Beat The Philly Heat

Where to Beat the Philly Heat

We’re now officially in the dog days of summer, which means it’s hot, hot, hot in Philly! Your instincts may tell you to hole up inside and boost the AC but that’s not necessary. There are plenty of ways to cool off in and around the city!

Below, we have listed some of our favorite local spots to beat the heat!

IN THE CITY

Aqua Vida floating fitness class

Aqua Vida has taken water workouts to a new level. At their floating fitness classes, you’ll practice yoga or some even HIIT—on top of a paddleboard in the middle of the Delaware River.

Hancock Playground pool

This Fishtown public pool is one of the best in the city! Right next to the outdoor pool, there are basketball courts, exercise equipment, and a brand new playground.

Hidden River Outfitters

Hidden River Outfitters, located at the Schuylkill Banks underneath the Walnut Street Bridge, is Philly’s kayaking hub. The business holds speciality moonlight and movie night tours, in addition to beginner and advanced excursions.

Paddle Penn’s Landing

Spend your afternoon paddling along Penn’s Landing! The Independence Seaport Museum let’s customers choose between a variety of transportation devices. There are the standard kayaks and rowboats, but what really makes Paddle Penn’s Landing special is their swan, flamingo, duck and dragon floats.

IN THE SUBURBS & JERSEY

Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom

For an adrenaline-packed day, head down to Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom in Allentown. The waterpark has over 20 waterslides, two tubing rivers and two wave pools. After, you can head over to the amusement park and dry off on their 7 roller coasters!

Marsh Creek State Park

This beautiful park, located in Chester County, is perfect for a day of fishing and sailing. There are also plenty of trees, which means you can hike in the shade!

Stone Harbor

If you ask us, Stone Harbor is the best place on the shore! You can cool off in the bright blue ocean, then walk along the scenic boardwalk. If you take a trip to Stone Harbor, make sure you stop in Pure Twist and Pure Juice* for some dairy and gluten-free ice cream, and fresh juice!
