Howdy, Philadelphia! 

As we say goodbye to July and hello to August, there are plenty of summer activities in and around our beautiful city! 

Keep reading to learn about the Philadelphia Taco Festival, forest bathing, and everything else happening #ThisWeekInPhilly:

July 26
  • Put on your cutest all-black outfit and rock out at Kung Fu Necktie’s Emo Night Philly! In addition to the live music, this Fishtown bar has vintage red leather booths, pool tables and vintage pinball machines. 
  • Have a classic summer day at the Kimberton Fair! Since 1929, this Phoenixville festivity has included fair rides, a donut eating competition, and of course iconic fried foods (our mouth is watering just thinking about the funnel cake)! 
July 27
  • It’s always a good time at Fairmount Park but the Ellen Reid Soundwalk has made it even better! Use your phone to guide you through the park with composer Ellen Reid’s specialized soundtrack!
  • Take me out to the ball game! It’s PEANUTS Night at Citizens Bank Park! Head down to the stadium and see Bryce Harper compete against his former team!  The Washington Nationals vs. Phillies game starts at 7 p.m.
July 28
  • Experience Shakespeare in a new way at Shakespeare in Clark Park! This week, the theatre company is performing Pericles, Prince Tyre一with an acrobatic twist. The show begins at 7 p.m.
  • Trivia and tacos, what could be better?! Each Wednesday at 9 p.m., Rosy’s Taco Bar hosts a trivia night. Oh, and did we mention that the winning team gets a $50 prize?!
July 29
  • Local indie singer Lucy Dacus is performing at the Levitt Pavilion SteelStacks in Bethlehem! Joining her is Bright Eyes, a veteran in the folk rock scene. The show is general admission and doors open at 7 p.m.
  • Indulge in your nostalgia at the PFS Drive-In at the Navy Yard! This weekend, they are playing Space Jam: A New Legacy, a sequel to the beloved 90s childhood staple. 
July 30
  • Enjoy a tapas style dinner at Bistro Night on the Avenues! In addition to the delicious food, there will be live music from Denise King, a local jazz singer. Tickets are available for 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
July 31
  • Celebrate Philadelphia Dance Day at Markward Park! There will be free workshops, live performances, and, of course, lots of dancing! The celebration will conclude with a showcase at the Plays & Players Theater. Workshops begin at 9 a.m. and last until 4 p.m.!
  • Get your taco fix at the Philadelphia Taco Festival! Xfinity Live! has prepared an epic weekend consisting of Mexican food, margaritas and authentic Mariachi music. To make things even better, there are over 75 different types of tacos available and they all cost $3! 
August 1
  • The Please Touch Museum has a new exhibit: The Pigeon Comes to Philadelphia! The exhibit, based on the popular children’s book series, features interactive games which will keep children entertained all day long. 
  • Have you ever heard of forest bathing?! Well, you can learn all about it at FDR Park. From 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., True to Seed is guiding people through forest bathing (or “shinrin-yoku” in Japanese). Expect a relaxing walk through nature where you can focus on your health and happiness! 

If you haven’t heard, Philadelphia recently updated their mask guidelines.  While you attend these events, be aware of each business’ and venue’s preferences一fun and safety go hand in hand!
