We’ve got some fantastic news: there are SO MANY great events for you to kick off the month! We can hardly keep track of them all! BBQdelphia, Philly Goats and Sunflower Festival, just to name a few…

Keep reading to learn everything happening #ThisWeekInPhilly:

August 2
  • Head straight from work to Pilates in the Park with Drexel Pilates! Each Monday at 5:30 p.m., there is a FREE pilates class in Drexel Square. All you need to do is register in advance.
  • Celebrate ten years of the Philadelphia Fashion Incubator* at ILLUME! From August 2 to September 10, you can admire and shop pieces created by PFI’s alumni and Designers-In-Residence. You won’t want to miss this exclusive gallery at InLiquid.
August 3
  • Catch a screening of Roadrunner at the Bryn Mawr Film Institute! This brand new documentary provides viewers an intimate glimpse into chef/writer/TV host/extraordinaire Anthony Bourdain’s life. 
  • Head up to BOK Bar for an evening of fine dining and live music! From 7 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., Candlelight Jazz is paying tribute to Billie Holiday and Amy Winehouse with their instrumental renditions of the women’s iconic songs.
August 4
  • Spend your morning with the Philly Goats! At 10 a.m., the goats will be at Falls of Schuylkill Branch Library’s Midvale Avenue Garden for a walk, performance and storytime.
  • Upper Darby is celebrating Halloween in August! At 10:30 a.m., the Upper Darby Performing Arts Center is presenting Spookley the Square Pumpkin. This musical will delight all children!
August 5
  • Come picnic at the Hill-Physick House in Society Hill! From 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., PhilaLandmarks will be performing chamber music at the historic mansion. This event is BYOB but wine and beer will be available. 
  • Sing your heart out at Westy’s Tavern! Each Thursday, the Center City bar hosts a karaoke night. The party lasts from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.!
August 6
  • Head down to the Mann Center for a live taping of NPR’s Wait Wait…Don’t Tell Me! This is a once-in-a-lifetime chance: it’ll be the Peabody Award-winning podcast’s first live show in 17 months! Doors open at 6 p.m. and the show begins at 7:30 p.m.
  • Relive your childhood at Disney on Ice! Mickey Mouse, in addition to all of his beloved friends, will be performing acrobatics and stunts at the Wells Fargo Center ice rink. There are three showtimes: 11 a.m., 3 p.m., and 7 p.m.
August 7
  • Craving barbecue? Well good news: Sunset Social is hosting BBQ-DELPHIA! Make your way up to Cira Green at 12 p.m. for face painting, ice cream, hard lemonade, and (of course) plenty of barbecue. This event is free admission and no tickets are needed! 
  • Do the cat-cow alongside some kittens! Amrita Yoga and Wellness is partnering with Morris Animal Refuge for Kitty Yoga! There are two classes: one at 1:30 p.m. and another at 3 p.m. Tickets are $25; grab yours now!
August 8
  • If you’ve got a green thumb, you NEED to go to the Philly Plant Exchange in West Philly! From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., you can trade plants, watch some tutorials and enter a raffle at UC Green. By the way, this event is free!
  • It’s sunflower season! To celebrate, Shady Brook Farm in Yardley is hosting the Sunflower Festival. You can pick your own flowers, take some beautiful pictures and enjoy other classic farm activities like wagon rides and petting zoos. Tickets must be purchased online!

We’ve reached the hottest month of the year, so be sure to keep water and sunscreen on you at all times!
