Enjoy Favorite Local Summer Beers While You Can

Thanks to city pools, the Jersey Shore and refreshing beverages, Philadelphians have been able to stay cool throughout the humid, summer months. With summer nearly coming to an end, we’ve rounded up a list of favorite local summer beers. These are all brewed nearby and best enjoyed during this time of year in the sunshine. Whether you’re enjoying them down the shore, out on the patio, or basking in AC, catch them before the summer fades!

Birra Di Levante
West Chester, PA

Birra is a classic Pilsner, brewed from Levante Brewing, with Tettnang hops and earthy aromatics. It’s refreshing with a golden-straw hue, lagered and clarified through filtration. Birra gives off expected aromas of floral and spice notes, with a hint of mild citrus flavors. (*ABV: 5.2%)

Victory Summer Love
Downingtown, PA

Summer Love is a golden pale ale made with a variety of earthy and citrusy hops including Cascade, Citra, Tettnang, Simcoe. Brewed from Victory Brewery, you’ll enjoy flavors of lemon and pine from its lean and refreshing malt body. (ABV: 5.2%)

River Horse Summer Blonde Ale
Ewing, NJ

Brewed by River Horse Brewing Company, Summer Blonde Ale is light, refreshing, thirst-quenching. River Horse’s aromas include some grainy malts, a bit of lemon, a hint of fruitiness and some grassy hops. (ABV: 4.5%)

PHL Session IPA
Philadelphia, PA

Brewed by Philadelphia Brewing Company, PHL Session IPA is a pale gold, light and hoppy beer. The aroma is a mix of piney and light earthy malt with subtle citrus hop scent. It has a somewhat light body and level of complexity, wet hops and pale malt. (ABV: 4.0%)

Down The Shore
Easton, PA

Brewed by Weyerbacher Brewing Company, this is a golden lager with a subtle citrus nose thanks to the Centennial and Mandarina Bavaria hops. You’ll first taste grainy malt and light bready flavors followed by earthy, herbal and slightly minty hop flavors and finished crisp and dry with lingering herbal hop bitterness and grainy malt notes. Down The Show is often related to a pilsner, and obviously recommended to drink at the shore! (ABV: 5.3%)
