The first full week of September brings us the FIRST of many. First Friday, a new classic film series, and of course, the first game of the official NFL season starring the Philadelphia Eagles! Be sure to tag your events out and about in Philadelphia with #ThisWeekInPhilly.

Tuesday, September 4
  • Ritz Five introduces a season of Classic Movie Essentials. This week’s movie is Breakfast at Tiffany’s starring the iconic Audrey Hepburn and featuring a special introduction from guest speakers.
  • Mac DeMarco returns to the Skyline Stage due to popular demand. Juan Wauters joins him at the Mann Center, and doors open at 6 p.m.
Wednesday, September 5
  • Everyone loves a Pittie Party! This monthly yappy hour by the PSPCA is at The Trestle Inn featuring $7 Full of Bull cocktails and other specials. Proceeds benefit the community outreach program at the PSPCA.
  • Sip while you sketch with local artists at the Philadelphia Museum of Art’s Drink & Draw series. Take notes from Philly artist Kees Holterman with drawing materials provided and  drinks available for purchase at the bar. All levels welcome.
Thursday, September 6
  • It’s finally here! The Philadelphia Eagles kick off the first NFL game against the Atlanta Falcons tonight at Lincoln Financial Field. Cheer on the home team of reigning world champions!
  • It’s Last Call for Stroll the Street in Manayunk. Enjoy the last of summer on Main Street at Cotton Street with food and drink specials, as well as live entertainment.
Friday, September 7
  • Celebrate Bourbon Heritage Month with Free Tasting Fridays at Twisted Tail. The first week kicks off with Wild Turkey. If you like what you try, come back for $1 off/ounce of each of the featured whiskeys in the week following.
  • Philly Art Collective hosts a FREE Pop-up First Friday in their new gallery on N. 3rd Street. The evening features more than 30 artists, live music, and complimentary refreshments.
  • Night markets are taking over the area, and the next food truck festival is in Haddonfield, NJ. Minutes away from the bridges or a short ride on PATCO, this quaint town has multiple Best of Philly awards.
Saturday, September 8
  • The Philadelphia Pizza Festival takes over Citizens Bank Park from 12 – 7 p.m. with over 60+ vendors. Plus, there’s so much entertainment for all ages: performances, carnival games, and a craft beer & wine garden.
  • Evil Genius turns 7 and they’re celebrating with a block party in Fishtown. Don’t miss a double can release of Flyin’ Hawaiian (a tropical punch pale ale) and Fly Like An Eagle (Lemon IPA).  
  • Campus Philly brings back CollegeFest at Dilworth Plaza for students to take advantage of the city before the semester gets crazy. This completely free event includes activities such as outdoor games, prizes, and giveaways from local companies. The best part…it also includes free admission and transportation to Philly’s top museums!
  • The popular Fishtown Flea is back with loads of handmade goods. From home decor to apparel and accessories, find a local producer for your needs. Enjoy local food trucks as well!
Sunday, September 9
  • Join Clean Air Council for the 13th annual Greenfest Philly by bringing more than 100 exhibitors and vendors. Learn about living sustainably while having fun with yoga, DIY workshops, eco-friendly shopping, and more!
  • Bok hosts its 3rd Annual B[L]OK PARTY with fun for all ages. Kids can enjoy bouncy castle, photo booth, performances, and more. While adults can enjoy food trucks, live mural art, and so much more!
  • Pickledelphia™ is Philadelphia’s first festival that’s all about pickles. Try foods from the usual fried pickles and pickle brine fried chicken to the unusual like pickle egg rolls and pickle pizza… to the downright crazy foods like pickle ice cream and many more.
