First off, if you’ve never heard of Yelp!, you need to stop everything and sign up. It’s a great site and resource for finding local digs. If you’re trying to look for a bar, restaurant, antique shop, nail salon… just about any business in the area… you can read peer reviews on Yelp before you decide to make the commitment and go.
One of the best perks of being a Yelp member is invitations to some of the best events and parties in the city. With a heat wave in the works, the most recent party was a spectacular pool party at North Shore Beach Club in Northern Liberties. For active members with Elite status, they were able to enjoy an extra VIP hour while general admission party started at 9:30. As the sun set, the setting couldn’t be more ideal. There were fresh summer cocktails such as vodka lemonade with Tito’s Vodka and watermelon sangria by Sassafras Restaurant in Old City. For non-cocktail drinkers, hard cider and Weyerbacher drafts were available. Some great bites were also served such as gourmet pizza from Rustica, guacamole by Revolution House, and mediterranean fare by Bitar’s in South Philly.
As the weather only seems to be getting worse, we recommend visiting North Shore Beach Club ASAP. It’s a perfect oasis to forget that you’re in the middle of a concrete jungle.
