Dave Matthews Hitchhiked to his Show! -

This past weekend, the world famous Dave Matthews Band played at Hersheypark Stadium just like many years in the past. During his down time before the concert, Dave decided to bike around the area. Unfortunately, his bike got a flat tire and he didn’t have his cell phone with him… Basically he was stranded. At that time, two unassuming fans happened to be on their way to his show and saw him on the side of the road. Obviously they picked him up and drove him to the show with them! Here’s what Dave said live on stage about what happened. To thank them, Dave took the lucky pair out to dinner, invited them backstage, and gave them front row tickets. Incredible!

It seems that he has a lot of run-ins with fans because I have also had an encounter with Dave. When I was in college, I did marketing for a music venue and our security often worked with DMB at other nearby venues. One summer I was stationed at the catering tent backstage at Hersheypark, and all of a sudden, Dave walked into the tent and right towards me! I’ve always been such a huge DMB fan and I was so starstruck the entire time that it was hard to speak. He actually asked me to have lunch with him, I laughed. Luckily, I had more encounters since then… one in which I managed to speak!
