It’s finally that time of the year where celebrities all gather at The Metropolitan Museum of Art for the annual Met Gala. The theme “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion” is an ode to American designers who are recognized for their responses to social and political issues happening in today’s world. Everyone knows Met Gala and if you’re like us, you’re picking favorites on who mastered the theme best.
Here are Philly PR Girl’s best-dressed picks of the 2021 Met Gala!
“I picked JHUD who just celebrated her 40th birthday! She is wearing Philly PR Girl red, of course, she’s my pick! What I like about her look is that she’s covered but still super sexy. There are SO MANY see-through dresses, sometimes more is sexier and with JHUD this dress proves that!” – Kate Marlys, Owner
“Her dress is absolutely stunning. It fits like a glove and the starts fit in the theme so well. I love that she went with her natural hair. Really ties in the diversity that America has and gives curly hair girls something to look up to!” – Katerina Zalalas, PR Coordinator
“She just looks so timeless and elegant. She’s not going out of her way to make a statement or to be overly on-trend. I just think she’s just classic and classicly gorgeous. This is the type of look that you would see in the 40’s and again for years to come: just timeless.” – Andrianna Acosta, Digital Media Coordinator
Kendall Jenner
“Kendall Jenner was shining bright like a diamond… literally. This stunning Givenchy gown draped in gems gives a nod to Audrey Hepburn’s role in My Fair Lady in the greatest honor. I think Matthew Williams’ modern take on this dress with the connection to American culture is exquisite. I’ve always loved Miss Jenner’s Gala looks and this might be my number one favorite!” – Ali Chapman, Marketing Assistant
Billie Eilish
“I don’t think Billie can do anything wrong. From baggy streetwear to this elegant monotone look. She also mentioned that this dress is completely fur-free and urges all designers to take into consideration their environmental impact when creating. She is simply iconic.” – Dominique Fiorentino, PR and Social Media Assistant Coordinator
“With a theme of American Lexicon meaning American Fashion… what more is more American than football? Not only is she effortlessly stunning with her natural makeup and low pony BUT she is one of the only attendees I saw kill it in the color game. Neon green?! Yes please! She was seen a mile down the carpet. I love that she chooses to highlight the career of her husband and stick to her family roots.” – Bailey Welsh, PR and Special Events Coordinator
“I may be a little biased because I am obsessed with her but I just absolutely love when an outfit is all the same color. All purple everything! Even her nails and makeup are the same purples as her outfit. The sleeves are a MOMENT. She is just too cool.” – Shannon Pepe, Digital Media Coordinator.
“I love Steph and Ayesha Curry’s look. It was bold but elegant. Ayesha looks like a goddess in the floor-length gown, while Steph compliments her with an embroidered suit jacket. It doesn’t hurt that they are also a beautiful couple!” – Savannah Roberts, PR Assistant
“I liked Lil Nas’s look because it was creative and told a story! He arrived in a thick cloak, which represented concealing his true self. Then he revealed armor, representing protection from prejudice. His final look stood for being true to oneself. So sweet!” – Becca Neckritz, Social Media Assistant
