Thanks to the now-infamous Double Doink, the Birds are still in the running for a hopeful back-to-back Super Bowl appearance. This weekend, they travel to New Orleans to face the Saints. The biggest question for you and your group of friends is, “Where do you want to go for the game?”
As always, there are the major sports hubs: Xfinity Live! and any Chickie’s and Pete’s location. They’re a great idea for an unmatched level of camaraderie, but it often comes with a lack of personal space as you stand shoulder-to-shoulder with your fellow fans.
In Fishtown, you can go to the popular Garage. There’s a huge selection of craft beers, frozen drinks, and fun bags (a huge mix drink in a pouch). To add the excitement, the food served is never the same. Every week, they have a new guest chef pop-up. This Sunday, you have the amazing Big Rube’s Fried Chicken tossing up some good wings and more.
If you’re watching the games in Center City and want good food, head to Porta* and sister restaurant/bar Brickwall Tavern.* Expect some of the best pizzas, wine and pizza at Porta in a sleek yet comfortable atmosphere. The vibes at Brickwall are laid back with enough TVs to keep sports fans occupied, plus shuffleboard tables and games for commercial breaks.
Vesper Sporting Club and Stats on 17th are a mix between a sports bar lounge and nightclub. It can get busy pretty quick, so come early or make a reservation. Our suggestion at Stats is to get the blueberry lemonade and the crab sliders.
Mix up the typical game day bar scene with an Asian fusion flair. Chinatown’s sports bar, Bar Ly, has everything you need. There’s a great selection of rotating beers, along with a variety of Asian-style wings. To be honest, we love the simplistic salt and pepper flavor.
Lastly, if for some reason you’re a daring Saints fan in Philadelphia during this time, there’s a safe place for you. Acadia is dedicated to everything New Orleans! From the authentic Cajun Creole food (with vegan and gluten free selections though!) to The Saints. For Philly fans, we recommend coming here (after the playoffs, naturally) for their delicious brunch.
