Happy Kevin Hart Day, Philly!

After a long weekend celebrating America’s birthday, Philadelphians can continue the festivities by celebrating Kevin Hart’s birthday on July 6. This year, City Council has approved this day to officially be recognized as Kevin Hart Day! Born and raised in Philadelphia, Hart has always been an ambassador of his hometown.

To recognize Hart’s dedication to Philly and the arts, the City is hosting a free public event in his childhood neighborhood. From 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., enjoy family-friendly entertainment with food, games, art activities, and live performances at Max’s Steaks in North Philadelphia. Local artists include Chill Moody,* Freeway, Bria Marie, and the International DJ Casper.

Led by Councilman David Oh and Mural Arts Philadelphia, a mural dedication near the intersection of 15th Street and Erie Avenue will permanently honor Hart year-round.  The new mural is number 4,001 in the city of Philadelphia and will stand as a constant reminder for how much the members of this community can achieve.

From starting his career at the Laff House on South Street to being named the highest-paid comedian in the business,1 Kevin Hart has proved to be one of the hardest working people in Hollywood. Though throughout his career, he has not forgotten his roots. Hart has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to the Philadelphia School District. He has also leveraged his stardom to put The City of Brotherly Love on the map of the film industry.

We wish Kevin Hart so much continued success, and we can’t wait to see what laughs he brings us next! For the latest updates, follow Kevin Hart on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
