Shut Up & Dance

This past weekend, we were lucky enough to be invited to attend Shut Up and Dance, a theatrical affair organized by MANNA and presented by the dances of the Pennsylvania Ballet.  For decades, MANNA has been on a mission to aid our community in improving health.  Did you know… that each month, MANNA prepares and home delivers over 70,000 meals to those battling cancer, HIV/AIDS, and other life-threatening illnesses.

On its 21st anniversary, the show did not shy away from grown up content with a Las Vegas theme; there were so many elements we did not expect.  Each was as entertaining as the last!  In total, there were SIXTEEN numbers and a beautiful short film titled “Willow Bank” by Candice DeTore and Harry Paris.    Memorable performances were a suggestive “ENNUI,” which was choreographed by BalletX directors and danced by one of them, Matthew Neenan, as well as “Dying Swan” by Michel Fokine – a piece reminiscent of Benjamin Millepied’s “Black Swan” that is performed annually at Shut Up and Dance!

The show began and ended on grandiose showgirl numbers with tons of energy and amazing costumes.  As Kate’s first time at the ballet, she was thoroughly impressed.  We can’t wait to see what’s in store for next year as we continue to support this fantastic cause!
