Philly Pride in Silver Linings Playbook

On Wednesday, November 21, Silver Linings Playbook came to a theater near you.  Since my entire family always spends the holiday weekend together, sometimes a trip to the movie theater is just the ticket to keeping us all sane.  As Philly PR Girl, I wouldn’t miss the opportunity to promote a Philly-based movie, especially one starring our favorite hometown hottie, Bradley Cooper.  Let’s all show some support for a film shot on location in the western burbs of Philly.  (Take that, New York and LA.) Last fall, some lucky Philadelphians got a glimpse of the star-studded cast featuring Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, Robert De Niro, and Julia Stiles. (see the pics below)

The movie is about a former teacher Pat (Cooper) who moves back in with his parents after a stint in a mental institution.  He tries to reconcile with his ex-wife, but things become complicated once he meets Tiffany (Lawrence) who is a mysterious girl with some serious problems of her own.   Silver Linings Playbook takes place in South Jersey but Philadelphia definitely plays a supporting character.  A couple spots to look out for are Upper Darby, Ridley Park, Llanerch Diner, and of course Lincoln Financial Field!  In the movie, Pat’s family shares an obsession with the Eagles, and regardless of their (disappointing) record…don’t we all!? No one can argue that Philly fans are the most loyal and prideful.

Another noteworthy mention is the authenticity of De Niro’s accent.   Recently on the Late Show, Cooper told Dave Letterman that his Uncle Ernie, an HVAC professional, helped De Niro read through his lines because De Niro wanted to master an authentic “Philadelphia accent”.  I’m sure it was no pressure for Uncle Ernie…  Watch this funny clip of the interview below.

And remember if the A-list cast and captivating plot didn’t give you enough reasons to watch the movie, hopefully your Philly pride will!
