TORC Yoga Preview Party

After months of hard work, TORC Yoga has finally opened its doors this November. As the only yoga studio in Old City, TORC offers more focus on power and strength than traditional yoga. Anyone who attended a summer pop-up can attest to the unique “tactical vinyasa” style. Expect the upcoming classes to be challenging and fun on top of getting zen. On Friday, November 3, TORC held their special preview party giving friends and family a first look at the beautiful studio space. Of course, we’re giving our readers the scoop as well!

Located at 31 South 2nd Street, the studio is stunning with red and white brick walls, and a large bay window at the front of the main studio space invites in plenty of natural sunlight. The studio provides two bathrooms with a shower in each, a locker room, a main practice space, and a smaller practice space perfect for private classes.

Guests were able to tour the space, enjoy light bites and drinks, dance to music provided by DJ Jay , and participate in fun yoga stunts throughout the night! The preview party started with Job Itzkowitz, Old City District’s Executive Director, introducing TORC co-founders Kristin Monzo and Sheena Ohlig and officially welcoming them to the neighborhood. He stressed the importance of being a small businesses in this historic district. In their opening remarks, Kristin and Sheena spoke about TORC Yoga, who they are, and thanked everyone for being a part of the journey.

After the opening remarks, guests were free to roam the studio and enjoy burritos from Animo, delicious desserts from Insomnia Cookies and Tiffany’s Bakery, and light bites from Square Meal. What’s a party without some drinks? Attendees were able to enjoy drinks all night with Casamigos Tequila, Stateside Vodka, rum from Red Brick Distillery, Peroni beers, Red Bull, and Essentia water. The speciality cocktail of the night was a “Cleanse” cocktail with Stateside Vodka, cucumber, mint and lemon.

The event quickly became a real party, with DJ Jay spinning current tracks and great throwbacks. He kept guests moving all night, along with Acro yogi Robert Li, who is striving to reach his goal of lifting 2,017 people this year. It was cool to watch a unique twist to yoga at the party, even though acro yoga will not be on TORC’s roster of classes.

If you’re interested in what you’ve seen from the preview party, keep an eye out for an official grand opening date coming very soon. The class schedule to be released shortly thereafter. You’re not going to want to miss your chance to take a class at this gorgeous studio. We are so proud of TORC for all they have accomplished!

Even if you’re not a yoga kind of person, they have classes for beginners to try it out and see what they think. Learn more and keep up with TORC Yoga by following their Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
