Here at Philly PR Girl, we love the annual “Best of” issue of Philadelphia Magazine. While they are all deserving winners, here are our favorite top 10 featured picks of 2014:

Best New Restaurant — Iron Chef Jose Garces has brought his world travels back to Philadelphia and is showcasing his talents at Volvér. Seasonal ingredients are highlighted through its evolving 14-course menu on the ground floor of the Kimmel Center. We can’t wait to attend the Best of Philly Bash after party at Volvér tonight!

Best Celeb Chef — Philly PR Girl’s favorite Philadelphia chef and winner of Top Chef: New Orleans, Nicholas Elmi, opened a 22-seat BYOB restaurant, Laurel, after his television win. Located on East Passyunk, be sure to schedule a reservation way in advance, as this exclusive restaurant is booked for the next couple of months.

Best Chicken Dinner — After Kevin Sbraga’s successful venture at his eponymous restaurant, his second venture at West Philly’s Fat Ham is no shortcoming. The hot chicken entree delivers a kick that doesn’t overwhelm you. Delivered with a cream sauce over white bread, this Southern-inspired dish deserves all its praise.

Best Upscale Pasta — One of our favorite Italian restaurants in the city is East Passyunk’s Le Virtu, so when they won Best of Philly, we can’t say we were surprised. One of the most impressive dishes is Chef Cicala’s maccheroni alla mugnaia, which is a single, hand-pulled strand of pasta.

Best Pizzeria — To say that the Philly PR Girl team is full of pizza lovers would be an understatement. Each pie served at  Pizzeria Beddia is subject to owner Joe Beddia’s care and finesse, as he personally makes each one. After one bite, you’ll be hooked. This small Fishtown shop is standing-only, cash-only and only takes walk-in orders.

Best Booze New Bar — In a land of tap takeovers, Garage stands out for serving only canned and bottled suds. The laidback bar also encourages BYOCheesesteaks from infamous neighbors Pat’s and Geno’s. With the addition of a jukebox and arcade games, this South Philly bar keeps earning top ratings from its Philly fans.

Best Rapper — Local hip-hop artist Chill Moody promotes his hometown music scene through his lyrics and smooth style. He will be returning to his West Philly roots at this month’s Night Market on Lancaster Ave on August 14th.

Best Style Setter — Winner of Project Runway Season 12, Dom Streater has certainly proved  worthy of her title, as she presented her debut collection at Philadelphia Fashion Week this year. We can’t wait to see what else she has in the works!

Best Spray Tan — Our client Ashley Piotrowski, owner of The Bronzed Bee, is the absolute best. Located on 20th Street, this is the place to go if you are looking for a natural tan. Shhh, no one will even know it’s airbrush!

Best Street Food and Snacks— With a wide variety of vegan, vegetarian and comfort-food items, Royal Tavern has something for everyone. Be sure to try their decadent, award-winning potato skins with shredded duck confit, melted gruyere and a touch of truffle.
