Preakness at the Piazza Raises Over $100,000

Philly PR Girl LLC was ecstatic to be the official public relations team of the 2nd Annual Preakness at the Piazza on May 17, 2014.  Philly’s most fashionable crowd gathered at The Piazza at Schmidts to watch the 139th Preakness Stakes in the name of charity.  This year, more than $110,000 was raised for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

During the event, guests moved and grooved to the musical stylings of DJ Royale. Our favorite liquor company, Tito’s Handmade Vodka, provided vodka for Black-Eyed Susans and fueled the dancing all night long. The VIPs even enjoyed their own mixologist and special drinks in their exclusive tent! Scrumptious summer-barbeque food was provided by Gunner’s Run in the Piazza.

Preakness at the Piazza’s red carpet was hosted by a beautiful trifecta of Gina Gannon and the two most recent Miss Philadelphia winners: Francesca Ruscio (2013) and Diamond Edmonds of (2014). Gannon interviewed anticipated guests including Pari Hashemi and Geoff Gross, the Co-Chairs of the Preakness at the Piazza. Best of all, everyone had the chance for “instafame” on The Piazza’s 400-ft. LED screen that featured the live Instagram wall, thanks to the Piazza’s Crabby’s Cafe & Sports Bar.

The Preakness Stakes’ gold medal may have gone to California Chrome, but the most anticipated outcome of the night was our fashion contest. Reuben “Big Rube” Harley, Maria Papadakis, Susie Celek, Seun Oludobun, Natalie Egenolf and Zachery Neshway awarded titles to the best dressed of the event (see below for the winners).

Without hesitation, the party moved to Gunner’s Run as they hosted the official after party. Dancing and drinks continued all night long in celebration of the successful charitable event. If there are two things Philadelphia knows, it’s how to fundraise and how to have a great time doing it!
