Here’s whats going on this week…

Monday, April 15th

  • Monday Movie Night at the Troc Presents: The Expendables 2
  • The 9th annual “Let Them Eat Cake” hosts 40 of the best professional bakers sampling and showcasing their amazing creations.  6pm at Merion Caterers in NJ.
  •  Income Tax Day – Visitors can take a special tour of the National Constitution Center’s main exhibition, The Story of We the People, to discover how the Stamp Act, the Whiskey Rebellion, and the 16th Amendment all connect to the history of taxation in America.  Tickets are free with museum admission; while you’re there, be sure to check out the “American Spirits” Prohibition Exhibit, which is closing on the 28th!

 Tuesday, April 16th

  •  Caribbean Cuisine Week – Make sure you make your reservations soon, because these dining deals are only applicable from the 16th to 18th at participating restaurants! Funds go towards helping over 700 high school athletes from Trinidad, Jamaica, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, the Bahamas, and Grenada to the 2013 Penn Relays.

 Wednesday, April 17th

  •  Come See About Me – Mary Wilson’s personal collection of the Supremes’ memorabilia and gowns is on display at the African American Museum through June 30th.
  •  Rich Vos at Helium Club – From “Opie & Anthony” and Comedy Central, Rich Vos does a four-night engagement in Philadelphia from the 17-20th.
  • BalletX Spring Series – The world premiere of Philadelphia’s contemporary ballet dance company features new works by Olivier Wevers, Gabrielle Lamb, and returning choreographer Tobin Del Cuore. Six performances show from the 17th through the 21st.
  • Free Concert & Party (5pm – 7pm) on East Passyunk Ave to celebrate being names “10 Best Foodie Streets in America” by Food & Wine Magazine.

Thursday, April 18th

  • Philadelphia Science Festival – Thursday kicks off a ten day, community-wide celebration of science that takes place annually in April, featuring lectures, debates, hands-on activities, special exhibitions and a variety of other informal science education experiences for Philadelphians of all ages.
  • Versailles ’73: American Runway Revolution – Catch a free screening of the documentary at the Westphal College of Media Arts and Design’s new building, the URBN Center, from 6-8 pm.

Friday, April 19th

  • Simon Fashion Now – Events begin at the King of Prussia Mall on Friday at 6 pm with a Trends & Friends Night, where shoppers will be able to interact with their favorite retailers and gain insight into this season’s styles through retailer demonstrations, including body cocktails and massages from L’Occitane, product displays and refreshments at SPANX, a spa bar at Lord & Taylor and much more. Friday evening will also include lively fashion shows, rivaling major industry catwalk productions, on the lower level of the Nordstrom Court.

Saturday, April 20th

  • Go West! Craft Fest – West Philadelphia’s biggest local craft event runs from 11 am to 5 pm and features live music, circus performers, children’s activities and handmade gifts galore.
  • Beer-BQ – City Tap House’s annual $20 all-you-can-eat pig roast/patio kick-off.
  • Science Carnival on the Park – Enjoy liquid nitrogen ice cream, make gak, meet live zoo animals, check out the inner-workings of robots, take a tour of a helicopter, extract DNA from a strawberry, test a “crime scene” for forensic evidence, and more!
  • Tailgate BBQ Challenge – Show your team spirit and support The Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure, all the while taste-testing your neighbors burgers and ribs at the Linc.
