The Sandy Rollman Ovarian Cancer Foundation (SROCF) was formed and founded by Sandy Rollman’s oncology nurse, Robin Cohen, and sister, Adriana Way, in memory of their beloved sister and friend who passed away from the disease when she was just 33 years old in May 2000.
Since the organization’s early beginnings, Cohen and Way’s goal has not only been to raise funds for ovarian cancer research but also to create a community where women fighting ovarian cancer can come together and connect. The SROCF provides many programs and events that educate and raise awareness about the disease so no other woman must endure the unexpected battle Sandy Rollman had to fight.

Four short years after the organization’s founding, the SROCF hosted the first annual Sandy Sprint 5K Run/Walk, where participants could run and raise funds for ovarian cancer research. What first started as a small event with 100 participants has now grown to an impressive 3,000 runners and walkers, fulfilling the foundation’s goal of providing a welcoming community for ovarian cancer warriors and survivors.

After working with the Sandy Rollman Ovarian Cancer Foundation since February 2022, Philly PR Girl is thrilled to help announce the 20th anniversary Sandy Sprint 5K Run/Walk at the Philadelphia Museum of Art on Saturday, April 27!
Starting at 7:30 a.m., the event will kick off with the National Anthem sung by Suzann Christine, with a survivor ceremony and live performance by the Philadelphia Boys Choir of “I’ll Be There” by the Jackson Five. Additional special guest performances include the Mummers Fralinger String Band, Flyers’ Ice Girls, Eagles’ Pep Band, and Positive Movement Drumline. Guests are also welcome to visit “Exhibitor Alley,” which will feature the Survivor Tent, and Wall of Remembrance.
Join the SROCF and Philly PR Girl for a day of action, hope, and connection as we continue to “fight for those who are fighting, speak for those who have fallen silent, and provide for those who are working towards the end of ovarian cancer.”
