Kate’s Top 10 Places To See In Philly

Philly PR Girl, Kate Marlys, has been taking over events in Philly for over 10 years! She has seen and experienced so much in the city. If you are new to the area or are looking for places you have never seen, here are Kate’s top 10 Places to see in Philly!

Reading Terminal Market

One event you won’t want to miss is the Party For The Market at Reading Terminal Market. Kate says it’s one of the BEST events in Philly, with delicious food, fundraisers, and more. If you are looking for a quick stop by Reading Terminal, Herschel’s Deli makes Kate’s favorite bagel with lox and cream cheese, which she claims is the best in Philadelphia.

Philadelphia Museum of Art

Many know The Philadelphia Museum of Art for its iconic Rocky steps, and while it is stunning, Kate’s favorite spot is the back of the building. Kate believes there is nothing better than the views and relaxing vibes of the water at this location.

Germantown

The history in Germantown is unlike any other, and Kate believes it is something that every Philadelphian should know what an amazingly historic town it is. Germantown Arts District continuously shines a light on the arts every fourth Friday. If anything, take a stroll along Germantown Avenue, as it is a beautiful street to walk down, but do not forget to stop at Uncle Bobbies for a coffee and Ubunto Fine Art for some culture.

The Waterfront

While there are too many places to name, if you want to explore Philadelphia’s beautiful waterfront, Kate recommends your first stops be Cherry Street Pier and Spruce Street Harbor Park. Both locations have food, drinks, live music, events, and more!

The Stadiums

If you know Kate, you know that her love for Philadelphia sports, such as The Phillies, The Eagles, and The Sixers, is like NO other. As Kate always represents her favorite Philly teams, you can often find her near the stadiums where the big games go down.

South Philly and South Street

Speaking of South Philly, people always ask Kate what her favorite restaurant is, and she without question will always recommend an Italian South Philly BYOB or restaurant. Coming from Kate, you cannot go wrong with any of the choices located in South Philly. Magic Gardens, a nonprofit museum and art environment featuring the work of Isaiah Zagar, is another great spot to explore! South Street Headhosue District* is not only a client of PPRG but we also think it’s an amazing neighborhood to explore.

Midtown Village + 13th street

Besides our office being in Midtown Village for ten years, Kate truly loves the businesses in this neighborhood and tries to support them as much as possible. Right around the corner is Prunella’s, and they have Kate’s favorite Caesar salad. Sampan happy hour at their graffiti bar and McGillin’s are two happy hour locations Kate enjoys often. If you are looking for vintage and unique sports gear, Mitchell and Ness and Shibe Vintage Sports are some of Kate’s go-to’s. Fun fact, if you go into Shibe, look out for the giant-size Gritty made entirely from jelly beans!  It is from our Photo Pop exhibit!

Local Dog Parks

You can often find Kate and her dog Coco at many of the amazing dog parks in the city. A couple of favorites are Columbus Square Dog Park and Orianna Hill Park, where she loves to take her pup for a stroll. In general, Kate loves walking around the parks all over the city, including Franklin Square and Rittenhouse Square. While Philadelphia is a heavily populated city, we have one of the largest urban park systems in the United States. With FDR Park and Fairmount Park, we are lucky to live in such a green city, which makes walking Coco even better!

Ellfreth’s Alley

The historic Elfreth’s Alley is a spot that is one of the oldest residential streets in the United States but especially in Philadelphia. Kate always loved this street so much that she even had a photoshoot here.

Old City

With new businesses popping up over the years, like Museum of Illusions Philadelphia* and The Red Rum Theater*, which just so happen to both be clients of Philly PR Girl, Kate has an excuse to get to the Old City more often. Not only is it lovely to walk around the area, but they have GREAT food as well. One of her favorites is Old City Eats. Most importantly, Old City is known for its amazing art and the LEGENDARY First Fridays.
