This Week In Philly December 19 – 25

Hey there, Philly! We have an exciting week ahead of us as the holidays approach, which means new activities and events to check out with friends and family! Keep on reading to see what’s in store for the city this week!

December 19: 

  • One of Philly’s most stunning visual holiday show’s returns to the Comcast Center’s lobby. A free 15 minute family-friendly show featuring classic holiday performances by the Philadelphia Ballet will be presented on one of the world’s largest LED continuous video walls here in Philadelphia. The show runs daily at the top of every hour from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. , you don’t want to miss this!
  • Returning for the second year in a row at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center at Oaks, come out and visit the astounding 1.2 million holiday lights. Displays include a 60 ft walk through light tunnel, recreations of Philadelphia’s landmarks, and tributes to the city’s sports teams. You can even glide around the ice rink, speed down a 160 ft ice slide, and enjoy the marketplace 

December 20:

  • Celebrate the winter and holiday season at a free nightly light show in Franklin Square. The square is illuminated every 30 minutes from 5 p.m. until close. You can grab burgers and drinks, play a round of Chilly Philly Mini Golf, or go around the classic Parx Liberty Carousel! 
  • Philadelphia’s historic Jeweler’s Row has transformed into a holiday wonderland, featuring thousands of lights, hundreds of colorful ornaments, along with festive foods and beverages that you don’t want to miss!

December 21:

  • Peddler’s Village adds a special charm to the holiday season by featuring one million holiday lights covering buildings and trees, more than 60 specialty shops, a gingerbread house competition, visits from Santa and so much more. This is the ideal spot for holiday shopping and dining too!

December 22: 

  • The South Street Headhouse District* invites you to join for the Menorah Lighting at the Headhouse Shambles. Light refreshments will be available, and make sure to arrive by 4:45 for the candle lighting and short service!

December 23:

  • After the animals are put away for the evening, the Philadelphia Zoo transforms into a beautiful night time spectacle. The zoo lights up more than 1 million twinkling holiday lights across 14 zones with displays that celebrate the beauty of wildlife. You don’t want to miss out on this magical experience with live performances, hot chocolate, and adult beverages. Grab your tickets here

December 24: 

  • The Christmas Light show here at Macy’s Center City has been a nostalgic family holiday experience and tradition since 1956. The 100,000 light show features twinkling snowflakes and dancing snowmen, as well as classic sounds from the famous Wanamaker Organ. Visitors can also explore Dickens Village, where animated dolls and sets retell “A Christmas Carol” by Charles Dickens. 
  • The famous Christmas Village is back in Center City at LOVE Park. It’s the very last day of the season so make sure you head over!

December 25: 

  • As the weather and temperature drops, Penn’s Landing is transformed into a winter themed riverfront park. Grab your tickets here, to glide around the ice skating rink and take pictures next to the holiday tree and festive decorations!
