It’s a time to escape your reality, take a pause from your busy schedule, and of course, relax! Finding the perfect book can be hard, but the Philly PR Girls are here to help! Here is a list of our team’s favorite summer reads, ranging all the way from memoirs, to picture books!

Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom recommended by Dominique

  • “This memoir is filled with life lessons and values from a bedridden old lecturer, Morrie. This book will pull on your heartstrings and leave you speechless. Definitely recommend reading at least once in your life!” – Dominique

Yearbook by Seth Rogan recommended by Lina

  • “This is particularly a favorite beach read for me because it is such an easy read, as it is made up of a bunch of short stories that don’t take up more than a few pages each. It is a collection of hilarious real-life stories and personal essays about Seth’s childhood and career – a very light-hearted, easy summer read.” – Lina

Next Year in Havana by Chanel Cleeton recommended by Andrianna

  • “It’s a great read that tells the story of a girl, Marisol, who is trying to learn about who her grandmother was by visiting her old home in Cuba. The timeline and narrator switch between the current day with Marisol and 1960s Cuba with her grandmother. Throughout the book, you’re taken on a wild ride of trying to figure out what old secrets Marisol’s grandmother kept in Cuba, while also uncovering what impact the Cuban Revolution had on her and her family.  Definitely, a fantastic option for someone looking for a light but mysterious beach read!” – Andrianna

101 Essay That Will Change The Way You Think by Brianna Wiest recommended by Daniela

  • “The author made this self-help book really fun and casual. It was an easy read, but full of so many reflections that really keep you thinking. I usually don’t highlight books, but I did for this one. I always find myself going back to some of my favorite essays from the book! Definitely recommend!” – Daniela

Business is Personal by Bethenny Frankel recommended by Carlie

  • “I’m currently reading it and LOVING it! Frankel gives great advice on business, relationships, and life through her own experiences of being a self-made businesswoman and entrepreneur. Her authentic, casual tone makes it an easy read. She approaches success and business in a creative way, focusing on taking risks and acting without fear. Highly recommend it!” – Carlie

It Ends with Us by Colleen Hoover recommended by Zoe

  • “The book is about a girl named Lily who has recently moved to Boston and is getting ready to begin her life after college. Lily then meets Ryle, and falls in love with him. However, Atlas, Lily’s first love, reemerges and tests Lily and Ryle’s relationship as she begins to develop feelings for him. I would say that it’s one of my favorite books because while it may be relatable, it also empowers those who may be in similar situations as Lily was, while also telling a powerful and emotional story.” – Zoe

Then She Was Gone by Lisa Jewel recommended by Katerina

  •  “The book is about a young girl who goes missing, and her family is super devastated. 10 years later her mom meets a man, and his daughter looks exactly like her daughter that went missing. She then goes on a mission to find out the truth about what really happened to her daughter in hopes of getting answers.” – Katerina

Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid recommended by Griffin

  • “This book is definitely a favorite summer read. I read it every single summer, and I fall more and more in love with it every time. The book is a set of interviews with band members of “The Six”. The plot takes you through the band’s rise to fame, and the love between Daisy and the lead singer, Billy.  If you love the 70s era as much as  I do, this is the book for you! It will always be on my bookshelf.” – Griffin

I Might Regret This by Abbi Jacobson recommended by Shannon

  •  “Super easy read with cute doodles. If you love the show Broad City, you’ll love the book too.” – Shannon
