Women’s History Month: #WomanCrushWednesday with Whitney Wolfe Herd

It’s #WomanCrushWednesday, and that means we are back with another feature for Women’s History Month. This week we would like to highlight a Female entrepreneur who has made a huge impact on women in the online dating scene, Founder and CEO of Bumble, Whitney Wolfe Herd.

If you have not heard of the app Bumble, you surely must be living under a rock. Bumble has swept the online dating scene, but that is not all. With options like Bumble BFF and Bumble Bizz, you can find really anyone to connect with within your area. The mastermind behind this app is Whitney Wolfe Herd, founder, and CEO of Bumble.

She has made strides in the online dating world when she herself was sexually harassed at her VP role at Tinder and decided to leave and create her own platform. With her app, she gave women the power to make the first move as well as having strict harassment policies in place.

She is now the youngest woman to take a company public and the world’s youngest female self-made billionaire with the second most popular dating app. Not only is the app revolving around giving women power, but she also has made sure the work environment reflects that. 82% of the employees are female, along with almost all of the executive leadership.

At just 31 years old, she has been recognized for being a rare woman billionaire status and has opened doors to many aspiring entrepreneurs. Her mission is to help build the ‘female internet.’ This is her way of trying to change the behavior of the online dating scene globally. The app she created is not trying to be a competitor of apps like Tinder, Hinge, etc. It is supposed to be a safe space for women to feel comfortable dating and making connections.

In efforts to use her growing popularity and funds, she has created the Bumble Fund. This is to help back up Female based tech companies in their own entrepreneurial endeavors. She has been recognized for various awards recognizing her achievements including Forbes 30 under 30Elle’s Women in tech, and so much more.

If you’re interested, you can join Bumble here! Whether you are looking for friends, business opportunities, or a significant other, this is the environment that women should feel most comfortable in, all thanks to Whitney Wolfe Herd.
