Philly’s 10 Best Happy Hours

Philly residents already know that they are lucky to live here. What other city has Gritty, the Eagles, iconic cheesesteaks, and the Liberty Bell? Luckily, Philly has something else to offer: an incredible selection of Happy Hours. If you’re looking to have a great night out without breaking the bank, these top picks are for you! From escargot to dumplings to homemade wine, these top ten Happy Hours will satisfy any craving.

City Winery*

990 Filbert Street

Philadelphia, PA 19107

If you’re not at City Winery, you’re doing it wrong. Not only does this cute place make its own wine with hand-selected grapes, but it’s also a concert venue! Upcoming performers include Jane Lynch and Allen Stone. Don’t miss the burrata with cherry tomatoes and the house sangria. If you love the wine, you can take it home by the bottle or get it delivered!

Barbuzzo

110 S 13th Street

Philadelphia, PA 19107

The papa fritas (crispy potatoes with smoked garlic aioli) from Barbuzzo are my favorite food in the world. Stop by from 4-6 on weekdays for drink specials like their Calabrian Sparkling Smash (whiskey, citrus, sparkling wine)  and plates like their focaccia with baked Bulgarian feta and blistered tomatoes. I recommend dining outside for the Mediterranean al fresco experience.

Harp and Crown

1525 Sansom Street

Philadelphia, PA 19102

Don’t miss $5 drinks and $7 plates at this gorgeous restaurant! I recommend dining inside so you can see the beautiful interior design, including four vintage chandeliers. My personal favorites are the salmon poke (with avocado and wasabi pea) and the whipped ricotta. The mac and cheese is also incredible! After Happy Hour, head to the bowling alley located inside the restaurant.

Osteria

640 N Broad Street

Philadelphia, PA 19130

The Bucatini Cacio e Pepe here may have changed my life. This creamy, peppery dish is heaven. Osteria is one of the country’s “most critically acclaimed Italian restaurants”, so go treat yourself to a Rossa Spritz. If you love meat, go for the beef tartare with black olive and giardiniera. If you’re feeling healthy, order the Tomato Insalate with peach, balsamic, and basil. Or order a margarita pizza for the whole table!

Gabi

339 North Broad Street

Philadelphia, PA 19107

Gabi’s $6 fruity cocktails and $4 house beer and wine are absolutely unmatched. Try the blood orange margarita if you want a sip of sunshine, or order the espresso martini to add pep to your step. Don’t forget to try some French classics, like escargot in garlic butter or a French cheeseboard. This underrated place is the best spot for you and your friends to try something new.

Chatayee Thai

1227 Walnut Street

Philadelphia, PA 19107

Vegan or vegetarian? This is the place for you. It’s owned by an inspirational Thai entrepreneur and every Monday is Drag Happy Hour. You heard that right- every Monday, there is a free drag show outside Chatayee from 4-6. Get an outdoor table and bring some tips for the queens! (Plus, sometimes you get lucky with free drinks and shots from liquor brands that partner with Chatayee.) My favorite dishes are the $4 Po Pia Koong (shrimp and mushroom spring rolls), the $6 Massaman & Roti (pumpkin and potato curry), and the $5 house sparkling wine.

Sampan

124 S 13th St

Philadelphia, PA 19107

Huge fishbowl cocktails? A Happy Hour every single day from 4-7? $6 sushi rolls? Run, don’t walk, to Sampan on 13th street. My personal menu highlights are the kimchi fried rice, the pork potstickers, and the Ming mule (vodka, lychee, mint, ginger). You can also check out Graffiti Bar, a secret bar hidden behind Sampan!

Bing Bing Dim Sum

1648 E Passyunk Avenue

Philadelphia, PA 19148

Come to Bing Bing Dim Sum for Chinese plates with a Jewish twist! Since we’re in Philly, you’ll have to order the cheesesteak bao with cheddar and long hots. Other menu standouts: spicy Sichuan cucumbers and Scarlet dumplings with tofu, swiss chard, and crispy garlic. Try something new with their $8 Junmai sake!
