Get ready: there’s plenty of exciting stuff to do in Philly this week. Needless to say, you’ll never be bored in the City of Brotherly Love.

August 16
  • Today is the last day to participate in the FDR Scavenger Hunt! If you download GooseChase, the app will lead you to lesser-known spots in the 350-acre park. Plus, you may be eligible for prizes! 
  • Hatfield House just opened their doors to a brand new exhibit: Black Quantum Futurism. As you walk through this exhibit, you’ll learn of The Temporal Disruptors, an old secret society of Black scientists, healers and writers, 
August 17
  • Build your own ecosystem at PHS Pop Up Garden’s terrarium class! From 6:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., you can create your own miniature garden. PHS is providing all the materials, so all you need to do is buy your ticket!
  • BOK Bar is hosting a night to remember—Candlelight Open Air: A Tribute to Queen. Sit back and enjoy the beautiful Philly skyline, BOK’s tasty treats, and Liseo String Quartet’s renditions of Queen songs. Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. and 9 p.m.
August 18
  • Tonight at 8 p.m. is The Mann’s Party in the Park! This fundraising gala is dedicated to the Mann’s education and community engagement programs. Additionally, you can watch E.T. while the Mann Center Festival Orchestra performs the score!
  • Laugh out loud at PhilaMOCA’s screening of The Room, a.k.a. the worst movie ever. In attendance will be Greg Sustero, co-star of The Room and author of The Disaster Artist
August 19
  • Cheer on the Eagles as they go against the New England Patriots! This preseason game begins at 7:30 p.m. Grab your tickets ASAP and head down to Lincoln Financial Field
  • Enjoy an exquisite selection of rosé and charcuterie boards at Taste of Rose! Tinto’s annual event features wines from nine different local wineries. This event lasts from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
August 20
  • Sundown, movies and Clark Park. This Friday’s free outdoor screening is The Iron Giant. You can reserve your spot online or walk in!
  • Visit the Betsy Ross House for a screening of Feeding Philly! The movie follows Action Tank’s fight against food insecurity in the Philly area. The screening begins at 7:45 p.m.
August 21
  • Get your folk on at the Philadelphia Folk Festival! For their 59 1/2th anniversary, there’s a hybrid event filled with live music, workshops and fun activities. 
  • Fall in love with flamenco at Philly Summer Tablao! Cherry Street Pier is hosting a singer, guitarist and dancers for this fantastic event. In addition to the dancing, there’ll be Spanish wine and a Q&A with the performers. 
August 22
  • Take in one of Philly’s most iconic and scenic views—the Art Museum and Boathouse Row—while enjoying some fresh food and draft beer. Parks on Tap’s Fairmount Waterworks location offers a menu full of local homemade meals, desserts and lots of drinks (alcohol and nonalcoholic)! On weekends, the beer garden is open from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., so you can start happy hour early or grab after dinner drinks.
  • For a few hours, you can live in a Shakespeare play at Alterra’s Midsummer Gala. You can expect an immersive performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, in addition to a silent auction, live raffle, and plenty of food and drink. Guests are encouraged to dress in the Art Nouveau style!
