Happy Monday, Philly! This week is jam-packed with tons of exciting events! There is something for everyone this week: a cryptocurrency class, family friendly book reading, dog yoga and more.

May 17

  • Break a sweat with Center City Fit! This Monday at 6 p.m., instructor Dwayne Townsend will be leading a Zumba class at Dilworth Park. Did we mention that it’s free?! No registration is required; all you have to do is show up!
  • Every Monday, Fleisher Art Memorial hosts virtual conversations with their former and current Wind Challenge artists. This week, 2019 winner and self-proclaimed “yarn bomber” Jessica Curtaz is talking about her Philly street art. Next time you walk past a fence, keep an eye out for Jessica’s crocheted animals and flowers!

May 18

  • Interested in cryptocurrency, like Bitcoin and Ethereum? Well, good news: Makumba Restaurant is hosting an Introduction to the World of Cryptocurrency class! From 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. this Tuesday, you can learn all about the history of crypto, how it works and how you can invest! 
  • Calling all Schitt’s Creek fans! Punch Line Philly is hosting a Schitt’s Creek trivia night. Test your knowledge on the Canadian sitcom while helping local animals—proceeds go to the Pennsylvania SPCA! Tickets are $13 and include one food menu item. You must be 21 or older to attend!

May 19

  • On Wednesday, Pennsylvania Ballet II is dancing at Dilworth Park! From 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., the company is performing PHrenetic, which combines spoken word with classical, electronic and jazz music. If you get hungry, to-go cocktails and specialty food is available at Air Grille!
  • Let’s Go Outdoors is hosting a pop up at Gorgas Park in Roxborough! Starting at 3 p.m., there will be trivia and a reading of Good Night Wissahickon Valley. The event is free to attend and everyone will receive a copy of the book! 

May 20

  • Head over to the Fairmount Farmers’ Market this Thursday! A variety of local vendors will be selling produce, baked goods and more! The farmers’ market is located directly across from Eastern State Penitentiary (22nd Street and Fairmount Avenue) and is open from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Slought is offering free admission from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. The nonprofit features art exhibits which reflect on local and global politics. Slought is located on the University of Pennsylvania’s campus and you must schedule your visit in advance!

May 21

  • Embark on the Flavors of Philly Food Tour and learn about the city’s history through our food! The tour takes guests to independent spots around the city to enjoy all of Philly’s favorite treats: cheesesteaks, tomato pie, soft pretzels and more. This experience is great for tourists and locals alike! 
  • If you’re passionate about interior design, make sure to check out Spring Breakout 2021! The trade show and conference will take place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. The itinerary is full of industry speakers and interviews, plus a trend forecast and a networking cocktail hour!

May 22

  • In the mood for a laugh? Watch the 11th Hour Theatre Company’s Quarantine Cabaret! This week, comedians Amanda Jill Robinson and Jenna Pinchbeck perform a show about two senior citizens stuck on cruise in the midst of the COVID pandemic.
  • Treat yourself to a nice brunch this weekend! The Victoria Freehouse, a British restaurant in Old City, is having a rosé wine tasting brunch this Saturday. Five international wines will be paired with a multi-course brunch. Don’t miss out—make sure to RSVP!

May 23

  • What’s a better combination than dogs and yoga? On Sunday, Love City Brewing Company is hosting Doggy Noses & Yoga Poses: a yoga class where puppies join in and roam freely throughout the space. All of the dogs are up for adoption through the New Jersey Misfits Canine Rescue. Come down to Callowhill, practice some yoga and perhaps meet your new furry best friend!
  • One of Philly’s most famous landmarks has a brand new look! After four years of construction, the Philadelphia Museum of Art’s renovations are complete! Acclaimed architect Frank Gehry led the revamp which added 90,000 square feet to the museum. The Art Museum is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays.
