The end of Women’s History Month is near, but we have one last #WomanCrushWednesday pick for you! This week, our #WCW is a Philadelphia native and changemaker in her community. She has been recognized by L’Oreal and President Obama. She is the founder of The Evoluer House, Cheryl Ann Wadlington.
Cheryl Ann, originally with a background in the fashion industry, has used her skill and voice to be a global change agent in the field of personal growth. She founded the Evoluer House to be on the frontlines of centering the well-being and leadership of girls of color in the Philadelphia region. In 2015, Evoluer House was recognized for 11 years of service by the Obama Administration. Then in 2016, Cheryl Ann was one of 10 women in the nation selected as a White House “Champion of Change” for her work and leadership in developing high-quality programs for marginalized girls of color.
Under the leadership of Cheryl Ann, the organization has held empowerment programs over the past 16 years to more than 2,000 teen girls of color. They work with the most underserved girls in Philadelphia to give them tools to become college-bound and career-ready.
In 2020, she was one of 10 women in the nation selected by L’Oréal Paris, as a Women of Worth that aired as a national special on NBC. The Women of Worth recognition honors women who selflessly give back to their communities. Being the founder of her extraordinary organization, she constantly has the best interests of our youth girls at heart. Cheryl Ann has been featured both nationally and locally in outlets such as iHeartRadio, The Philadelphia Tribune, and Generocity.
There is no doubt that Cheryl Ann is on a mission! She is a one of a kind woman that we, at PPRG, admire. With the end of March and Women’s History Month drawing near, we can truthfully say that Women, both local and national, are a force to be reckoned with. Happy Women’s History Month!
