Ready for fun #ThisWeekInPhilly?! As we end #WomensHistoryMonth and welcome April, we invite more Spring and outdoor events! This week is April Fools, and that means comedy! March 29

  • It’s opening day at the Philadelphia Zoo! Now that we’ve welcomed Spring, it’s time for family-fun outdoor activities! Through the new exhibit Big Time: Life in an Endangerous Age, you and your family can travel back in time to 66 million years ago when dinosaurs roamed Earth!   • Join in for A Tribute to Ben Fletcher! Peter Cole, author of Ben Fletcher: The Life and Times of a Black Wobbly is joining Professor of Law Ahmad White to discuss the legacy of Ben Fletcher, a working-class American hero! This virtual event from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. 

March 30

  • Have questions or want to share your experiences with Covid-19? The Temple University Town Hall: Covid-19 in North Philadelphia is the event for you! Healthcare experts are presenting important information on the Covid-19 virus and the effects it has in North Philly. This virtual event will take place at 6 p.m. The first 60 people to register will receive a $60 Visa Gift Card! 
  • Women’s History Month is coming to an end, but the celebrations still continue! EmpowHERment is holding its virtual Annual Women’s Celebration at 5 p.m. The event’s theme is “When She Succeeds, We Succeed!” Ticket proceeds will go toward EmpoerHERment’s Leadership Academy, a mentoring program for girls in grades 9-12, so get your ticket today! 

 

March 31

  • Celebrate the last day of Women’s History Month with a virtual workshop for children! The African American Museum Philadelphia is partnering with Keepers of the Culture to present Women’s History Month Virtual Workshop: The Work of Women’s Hands an interactive presentation for children ages 8 and up. It’s from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., and tickets are “pay as you wish.”
  • Job Fair Alert! Congressman Andriano Espaillat hosts the 2021 Virtual Job Fair from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. With confirmed employers like Amazon and Columbia University, this event is sure to be beneficial! It’s always good to network and look for new opportunities! Register for free today 

April 1

  • Oh, the joy of April Fools! Come out to the April Fools Comedy Night hosted by Izlas. The tickets include dinner and a show. Whether it’s date night or just a night out with friends, who doesn’t love to laugh!?  Showtimes are 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. Register for your ticket today as this is an in-person event and limited capacity!
  • If it’s April 1st, then it’s April Fools! The Jar is presenting you an opportunity to laugh and make new friends with the April Fool’s Special. The program is from 7 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. It will start with a mindfulness moment and then you’ll break out in groups to explore the role foolishness plays in your life. Sounds fun right!?   • Join the Philadelphia Fashion Incubator* from 11am-12pm for Fashion Thursdays! This weeks topic is How To Identify Your Sustainability Values and Build a Sustainable Brand.

April 2

  • Are you interested in art? The Center for Craft is having a virtual tour of the exhibition “FABRICated” from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m with artist Virginia Derryberry. This free exhibition will present an intergenerational look at how art and craft merge with painting, sculpting, and blacksmithing. Join as seven artists explore the ideas of body, identity, and their unique personal stories through art.
