10 Reasons to Attend Preakness at the Piazza

The 6th annual Preakness at the Piazza is right around the corner! On Saturday, May 19 from 5 to 9:30 p.m, guests will come together at The Piazza at Schmidt’s Commons for a unique, fun, and fashionable event to support the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Here are our top ten reasons why this year is going to be amazing!

A Great Cause

Since its inception, Preakness at the Piazza has hosted more than 4,720 attendees. They’ve joined together to help raise $615,300 for charity. One hundred percent of net proceeds from this event go toward the National MS Society.

The Fashion Event of the Spring

Everyone is encouraged to wear their best derby attire! Think creative hats and fascinators paired with colorful dresses. For men, we love suits and bowties with pops of color too! Once again, fashion judges will award those who stand out in the following categories: Best Dressed Female and Male, Best Couple, Best Hat, and Best Shoes.

Open Bar (Need we say more?)

Enjoy a premium open bar for four hours! Of course the signature cocktail of the night is a Black-Eyed Susan, the official drink of the Preakness. Sponsored by Tito’s Handmade Vodka, this refreshing drink with orange and pineapple flavors is perfect for spring.

All You Can Eat Southern-Inspired Buffet

If you love Southern-inspired comfort food, then this is the event for you. From fried chicken to mac and cheese and more, there will be creative twists on classic favorites. Plus, don’t forget about dessert, too. Come hungry!

NEW! NFL Alumni VIP Lounge

This year, the NFL Alumni is sponsoring the VIP section… so you never know who will pop up! Take advantage of the best experience with a luxurious lounge, a private bar, VIP cocktails, and more.

A Stellar Lineup of Special Guests

The fashion judges this year are Pat Gallen from CBS3, Fox29’s Alex Holley and Kristen Rodgers, Howard Eskin from 94WIP, and Damari Saville Co-Owner Jay Amin. Additional special guests will include our red carpet host Gina Gannon from 6ABC and QVC, Mina SayWhat, NFL veteran Brian Baldinger, 94WIP’s Jon Ritchie and Hollis Thomas, both former Philadelphia Eagles players… just to name a few!

Place Your Bets

Let’s not forget the whole reason why this event is taking place! The 143rd Preakness Stakes will air live on The Piazza’s giant 400 square-foot LED screen. Betting boards will be available to put your money on your favorite horse! Of course, all of it will go towards the National MS Society. Talk about a win!

Be a Guaranteed Winner

If the “stakes” are too high for you in horse racing, you can still donate to the cause during Preakness at the Piazza. New to this year, there will be special Mystery Boxes to choose from. Be surprised with a wine or spirit in each box… plus, a select few have additional surprises in them!

Dance the Night Away

With live music and DJ entertainment, there’s never a dull moment during the night. Watch as The Piazza courtyard swiftly turns from a Preakness viewing party to a huge dance party! No matter rain or shine, guests have always brought their dancing shoes to this event.

Keep the Party Going

You didn’t think it was going to end that quickly, did you? Yes, there’s an official after party. We will be revealing the location soon… so stay tuned!
