Monday, February 2

  • Mommie Queerest is coming to The Wilma Theater tonight! The Bearded Ladies Cabaret is teaming up with Bearded Extension Dito van Reigersberg on an all-musical, all-queer version of the cult classic film Mommie Dearest. The show will follow a cocktail reception, which begins at 5:30 pm. Mommie Queerest begins at 7:00 pm. Audience members who don wire hanger costumes can participate in a runway part way through the concert. There will also be a live auction!
  • Paul Simon’s Graceland may have launched them into the international spotlight, but their fusion of rhythms and harmonies turned the South African a cappella sensations into a Grammy® winner. Celebrating over fifty years of joyous and uplifting music, Ladysmith Black Mambazo’s singing sends a musical and spiritual message that has touched audiences around the globe. Join them for song & dance tonight at 7:30pm.

Tuesday, February 3

  • Atelier et Aperitif: An Intimate Fashion Event presented by Chloe Johnston and Naveda Couture – The Trunk Show starts at 6:30. Come and see the bohemian-meets-couture lifestyle that Naveda offers and check out Chloe’s vintage luxury and high-end offers.  RSVP is required as space is limited. *
  • Learn modern dance techniques in a weekly Tuesday night class  designed specifically for beginner students at The Performance Garage. These focused warm up leads into dynamic across the floor movement featuring phrase work, turns and jumps will definitely leave you wanting more. Come see him perform at the Keswick Theatre tonight for a night of music.

  • PA Performing Arts for Young Audiences (PAPAYA) welcomes, Het Filaal, one of Netherlands’ premiere theatre companies for young audiences and its playful and shadow-filled Miss Ophelia as the second show this season of PAPAYA at the Bride, an International Family Series presented in partnership with the Painted Bride Art Center.

Friday, February 6

  • Alliance for Women Entrepreneurs presents Coffee & Convo – If you have questions about AWE, its programs, and how to get involved, this may be the place to start. Grab a cup of coffee and join us for a casual conversation with members of the AWE Membership Committee and other AWE members.
  • How do you suppose your body feels in a time of need and stress? Bonnie Brenda Scott brings her artwork addressing the body and matter through its’ shift in nature.   • An evening of groundbreaking artists in music, video, and dance join forces on stage to create a new future, and celebrate the stature and wisdom of the Divine Feminine across cultures. A one time in the history of the world experience, curated by King Britt and Kate Watson-Wallace.

Saturday, February 7

  • OIC of America presents: “Show Off Your Purse-N-ality” at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown! Each guest will have the opportunity to bid on a variety of designer purses and handbags while enjoying hors d’oeuvres and sparkling wines. Along with the silent and live auctions, there will be door prizes and hourly raffles. Tickets are $20 and proceeds go to forwarding OIC of America’s mission of “Helping People Help Themselves.” *
  • The Prodigal Son ballet will grace the stage at the Merriam Theater until February 8. Witness a moving masterpiece in George Balanchine’s Prodigal Son. Set to an original score by Sergei Prokofiev, Prodigal Son tells the well-known biblical story through touching dramatic scenes and soaring acrobatic movement.
  • Don’t miss the glamorous black-tie celebration of the mission and lifesaving work of the American Heart Association tonight at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown. The Heart Ball is one of the premier American Heart Association fundraising events both locally and across the nation. They also celebrate the accomplishments and leadership of our Heart of Philadelphia Award Recipient and Edward S. Cooper, M.D. Award Recipient.

Sunday, February 8

  • Mural Arts Love Train 2015 celebrates the five-year anniversary of its landmark Love Letter project and marriage equality in Pennsylvania with the final iteration of Love Train today from noon to 3 p.m.. Join for a privately chartered, slow-speed, guided tour of the 50 rooftop murals along the Market-Frankford SEPTA line in West Philadelphia, painted by artist Stephen Powers and ICY Signs. The Honorable Daniel J. Anders, Philadelphia’s first openly gay male judge, will wed one same-sex couple aboard the train during the Love Letter tour. A sparkling catered dessert reception will follow at Loews Philadelphia Hotel.
