Think it’s too late to get that summer bod? We think otherwise! Now is the perfect time to take advantage of this beautiful weather by treating your body to a fun, yet challenging, workout. If you are sick of going to the gym and exercising indoors, here is a list of where to get fit in the great outdoors.
1. CoreFitness PHL Boot Camp is back! Get the core you’ve been dreaming of and much more. All you have to do is show up! The Core Fitness team will take care of the rest. These workouts are held on the Art Museum steps. Each class is $15. First class is for free! Check out the boot camp schedule to pick a time that works best for your schedule. 2. City Fit Girls, LLC. was founded and led by two young and driven women, Kiera Smalls and Takia McClendon. Certified personal trainer, Kiera, holds outdoor boot camp sessions on Sundays at 10 a.m. in Germantown and Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. on the Art Museum steps. Choose the City Fit Girls boot camp that fits your schedule, set a measurable fitness goal and get started! Classes are $30 and pre-registration is required online. 3. A group of yoga teachers called Yogis United invite yoga lovers of all levels to Yoga On The Pier to relax and breathe in the fresh air while overlooking the scenic Race Street Pier. Each session is free, but donations are always appreciated. Classes run 6 days a week, excluding Wednesdays. Don’t forget your mat! Classes end on August 31. Check the full list of times here.
4. Marathon trainer and Tough Mudder finisher, Bryan Newman, leads BNew’s Boot Camp. The program is prided on high-intensity interval training, which tests a person’s endurance, strength and agility through a variety of exercises. Bryan welcomes all fitness levels to attend his free classes, which takes place every Tuesday and Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. (rain or shine) on the Philadelphia Art Museum steps. 5. Urban Yoga Philly’s motto is, “Practice and perspiration, Philly style.” Taking place at the Oxford Mills courtyard in Fishtown, Urban Yoga Philly offers complimentary yoga classes every Saturday morning at 10 a.m. Classes continue through September 6th.
