This Friday kicks off the fourth annual Philly Tech Week throughout the city of Philadelphia. As a week-long celebration of everything tech-related, #PTW2014 has a range of workshops, events and activities for the not-so technologically inclined to tech gurus. For starters, the week beings with Arcade @ The Oval on Friday night with larger-than-life game of Tetris played on the side of the Cira Centre. And if you don’t like Tetris, we’re going to suggest that perhaps you should spend more time at Barcade.
This year the hosts at Technical.ly Philly are expecting somewhere in the realm of 25,000 people to attend the 144 events planned for the week. Ever since they started PTW in 2010, the number of attendees has been growing and with it – and so has the diversity of the events. There are six tracks available during the week starting with Dev on Saturday, continuing with Civic, Media, Business, Access, and ending on Creative. Events can range from a few hours to day-long workshops and conferences. While most of the educational events require costs, many of the events are free but may require an RSVP.
Of course, there are your typical networking and hackathon events, but we love low-key, casual events like the N3d Street BBQ at Liberty Lands Park for the official City naming ceremony for N3rd Street. Though the activities are not officially over until Saturday, the big party is the Signature Event presented by AT&T. It’s a can’t-miss cocktail reception meets an interactive local technology expo and demo party. Then continue the fun at its official after party at Tattooed Mom on South Street.
Be sure to scan the full calendar of 144 events closely to not miss out. Follow Philly Tech Week on Facebook and Twitter for live updates and more information.
