One thing Philly is definitely good for are all the concerts that roll through on a regular basis. 2013 was no exception and this time around we have our favorite concerts from the past 12 months.
In its second year, we can definitely count Jay-Z’s Made In America festival as one of the biggest and best in the nation despite its youth. This year it brought big talent like headliners Beyonce and Nine Inch Nails, as well as Haim and Gaslight Anthem to the City of Brotherly Love.
Justin Timberlake and Jay-Z came to Philly this past summer with their Legends of the Summer tour. We couldn’t have been more excited to see the former NSYNC band member make his return to the stage with the iconic rap mogul.
Quintessential 90’s grunge rockers Pearl Jam brought growling vocals and flannel back to the city this year, rounding out the variety of talent and fans that can be found here. Philly is getting used to seeing Pearl Jam in the Fall…and we like it!
Fortunately for Philly, the Yeezus Tour recovered from some logistical blunders just in time for Kanye West and King Kendrick to rock the Wells Fargo Center on their set tour date in November. Kanye is always good for some crazy press, or just crazy – when in Philly he took his crew including Kim Kardashian to a romantic dinner at Wendy’s!
2014 is already set to be another big concert year for the city with Justin Timberlake’s return in February, a performance by Cher, and another by Lady Gaga. Not to mention performances by Lorde and up and coming rapper Hopsin. With all the great talent scheduled, we are so excited for next year’s music scene.
Check back tomorrow for a list of confirmed tours coming to Philadelphia in 2014!
