Philly Fall Brews

Almost everyone agrees there’s no wrong season for an artfully crafted ale straight from your local brewery. That being said, there’s something special about enjoying a full-bodied draft during that short time of year where the air is crisp but not freezing and daylight savings has yet to steal an hour of sunlight away from us. with the season in mind, Philly PR Girl put together a list of local breweries that are sure to make the colder weather a lot more bearable.

Yards Brewing Company, 901 N. Delaware Ave.

Brewing locally since 1994, Yards has become a true Philadelphia libation staple. One of their signature ales is their Brawler Pugilist Style Ale. Between its ruby color and strong caramel flavor, Brawler is perfect to enjoy during October weather. If you’re looking for one of their seasonal ales, Cape of Good Hope is a “stronger, hoppier” ale that is available until it runs out, so get it while you can.

Victory Brewing Company, 420 Acorn Lane, Downingtown

Victory’s Festbier can be considered autumn in a bottle. With a full-bodied, malty and hoppy flavor it miraculously still goes down smooth. We’re not sure if it’s the German malts or 25+ years of experience in the brewing business that brings such a delicious draft to the table, but we’re happy either way. Be sure to check out Winter Cheers, their winter wheat ale that’s perfect for snow-covered days.

Earth Bread and Brewery, 7136 Germantown Ave.

The eco-friendly husband and wife owners of Earth Bread and Brewery have a continuous flow of different house brewed beers as they don’t repeat recipes often. Their kitchen is also filled with sustainable ingredients including local premium flours and in-house made desserts, while hand-crafted brews like their Henry’s Law stout are on tap.

Philadelphia Brewing Company, 2440 Frankford Ave.

PBC resides in what was constructed as a brewery more than 125 years ago. In a nod to their location, the brewery’s Kenz O’ Lantern is a dark pumpkin beer that’s perfect for the Halloween season. Be sure to check out this Kensington gem, which also offers free brewery tours 12-3PM on Saturdays.

Triumph Brewing Company, 117 Chestnut St.

With three locations spanning two states, Triumph Brewing has been gaining momentum with their restaurants and hand-crafted beers. Take a look into their Philly location, enjoy a great meal and be sure to try their pumpkin ale which will only be available for a limited time.

Do Good Brewing, 3245 Amber St, Philadelphia

Do Good Brewing is a new company with a great twist. They are committed to donating a percentage of their profits to established and vetted local charities. Their flagship brew, Benjamin Franklin United Ale, is connected to raising awareness for pediatric cancer. We are proud to be working with them on an upcoming event. More details to come!

Flying Fish Brewing, 900 Kennedy Blvd, Somerdale, NJ

Across the bridge in South Jersey you’ll find Flying Fish Brewing. For over a decade, they have been making their popular craft beer. Next week the Grand Cru Winter Reserve will be available. Don’t wait to try the Belgian-style strong golden ale!

There are a lot of other great local brews out there.  If your favorite is not on this list, comment and let us know.  We’ll feature them in our next beer post!
