October Starts Off Right with A Pynk Affair

Last Friday was the sold-out PYNK Affair event at Yards Brewing Company Friday night. The local brewery teamed up with Little Baby’s Ice Cream for a night of music, beer and frozen treats all in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The event was also an opportunity for some special unveilings including Yards seasonal Pynk Beer, a deliciously tart berry ale and Little Baby’s debut Pynk ice cream, which is made with Yards Pynk ale. Also on hand was SpOt Burger, who set up shop out front to serve up burgers and sandwiches on specially made pink buns.

The night began with tunes spun by DJ Pink Elephant and DJ Pink Slip. Then M!ssundaztood took the stage to perform their tribute to Philly-native pop star, P!nk. The band was dressed in the color pink just for the occasion. Next up was Freezer, a tribute to Weezer, made up of Little Baby’s staff and friends. The guys played Weezer’s second album, Pinkerton, in its entirety to a crowd who couldn’t have loved it more.

All proceeds from the event went to the Tyanna Foundation as well as Planned Parenthood of Southeastern Pennsylvania. The Tyanna Foundation helps increase awareness and generate funds for things like breast cancer research and treatment and patient care. Although it’s often assumed that Planned Parenthood only offers services for unplanned pregnancies and STI testing, they also work with the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation to provide women with breast exams. Planned Parenthood also works to connect women with the services they need to get biopsies, ultrasounds and follow up care.
So while being the best way to kick off October, Pynk Affair also lent a hand to an amazing cause. We hope this is a reoccuring event because it was an awesome collaboration by local business.
