Monday, July 8th

  • Jazz Jam – The World Cafe invites jazz musicians of all ages and playing levels to come together and perform upstairs from 5:30 to 7 pm.
  • Cirque Zuma Zuma – As part of the Young People’s Concert Series, this incredible performance group of disciplined artists from Kenya and Tanzania blends acrobatics, dance, and music.

Tuesday, July 9th

  • The 39 Steps – An award-winning spin on Hitchcock’s masterpiece featuring four actors playing over 150 characters at DeSales University, as part of the Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival.
  • An Evening with Jon McGoran, author of “Drift” – The Academy of Natural Sciences hosts Jon McGoran, author of a new ecological thriller combining drug gangs with deadly plagues, for a free reading and reception/book signing from 6:30 to 8:30 pm.

Wednesday, July 10th

  • Taste of the Square – Sample dishes from some of Rittenhouse Square’s hidden gems on a tour through the neighborhood. Only a few tickets left!
  • Radio 104.5 presents 311 – This longtime alternative rock band is performing at the Festival Pier with Cypress Hill and G Love & Special Sauce.
  • Yelp’s Summer Soiree – Yelp fanatics, come and hang out with fellow reviewers and critics at the North Shore Beach Club for a free party by the pool. Must RSVP to attend.

Thursday, July 11th

  • Screenings Under the Stars – This week’s free screening is The Dark Knight Rises, starting at dusk.
  • BalletX Summer Series 2013 – This season feature’s this modern dance company’s first-ever full-length ballet with costumes and set, entitled Beautiful Decay. Tickets are as low as $22 with discounts for seniors and 20-somethings.

Friday, July 12th

  • Vans Warped Tour – The Susquehanna Bank Center gears up for this year’s Warped Tour, with favorites like Bring Me The Horizon, The Wonder Years, Silverstein, and Big D and the Kids Table taking over a dozen stages throughout the day.
  • E.T. The Extra Terrestrial – The Awesomefest of fan-favorite movies continues through the month with a viewing of E.T. at Eakins Oval beginning at 9 p.m.
  • Improv Comedy: The N Crowd – The N Crowd is a short form comedy troupe that performs improvisational shows weekly. Check them out at the Actors Center on 357 N 3rd Street at 8 p.m.!

Saturday, July 13th

  • Hispanic Fiesta – Over 15,000 people will gather at Penn’s Landing for Philly’s premier all-day Latino event. Featuring performances and competitions from Latin dance groups, ethnic foods, artisanal crafts, and a vignette from In The Heights.
  • Phillies Home Tailgate – Get your drink on starting at 1 p.m.! DJ T-DOCC will be spinning, and Founding Fathers BBQ will supply an all-you-can-eat lunch.
  • Moonlight Kayak Tour – See the Schuylkill in a new light on this professionally guided half hour tour that gives you an hour to go off and explore between the Walnut Street Dock and Fairmount Water Works.

Sunday, July 14th

  • Bastille Day with Alliance Française – RSVP to the annual Bastille Day celebration on Penn’s Landing with a buffet dinner by Brûlée Catering and Chef Jean-Marie Lacroix, an open bar, and dancing under the stars with the Fred Hall Orchestra.
  • WWE Money in the Bank – The PPV’s first return to Philadelphia in 4 years!
  • Beyonce Hip-Hop Workshop – Learn some of Queen Bey’s killer dance moves at this nonstop, 90 minute workout at Philly Dance Fitness. Class starts at 2 pm for $20.
  • Summer Pig Roast – Bucks County’s Sand Castle Winery is hosting its annual pig roast from 1 to 4 p.m., with a catered meal and full wine tasting and souvenir glass. Tickets are $30 for adults and $22.50 for anyone under 21.
