If you’re from Philadelphia, these are definitely two name you recognize: Questlove and Stephen Starr. At first glance, the pair may not seem to have much in common… but did you know that Questlove is a foodie? Aside from his successful drumming career, the artist has been serving up his highly-acclaimed fried chicken drumsticks for a couple years – mostly through pop-up eateries. He’s finally making the move to open up a restaurant called Hybird, where the chicken will be the star. Speaking of Starr, the infamous restaurateur is Questlove’s partner in this project. Surprisingly, they are not coming to Philadelphia (yet). The restaurant will open this Saturday, May 18th, in New York City’s popular Chelsea Market.
Hybird’s menu is not limited to chicken alone. Expect creative gourmet twists to some comfort-food classics. There are dumplings filled with truffled egg, creme de la crab, curried chicken, and more. Dessert includes Asian-inspired cupcakes, such as pineapple cake with curry frosting and corn cake with miso-honey buttercream. Signature Loveslush slushies will feature watermelon jalapeno and honey ginger lemonade flavors.
