We Sure Do Love St. Patrick’s Day in Philadelphia!

HappyStPatricksDay

Philly PR Girls love any excuse to dress up and be festive.  Even though we may not be Irish, we sure do love St. Patrick’s Day.  Per tradition, we’ll be participating in the annual Erin Express.

Kate usually makes up her own Erin Express and doesn’t follow the bus’ route anymore.  Her bar recommendations are: start at the West Tavern, make an appearance at Tir Na Nog, and end somewhere that we can dance!  Victoria goes all out by crafting homemade themed t-shirts the night before, waking up at dawn for a full breakfast, and then heading en route to University City.  As Drexel Dragons, you can find her along with our newest team member, Christine, at Cavanaugh’s where there are shamrock beers all day!

While the Erin Express is our choice of celebration, there are also plenty of other fun St. Patty’s Day events in Philly.  Barcrawls.com is having their own bar crawl on Saturday that starts at McFadden’s and Tavern on Broad and makes stops at Locust Bar, Fox & Hound, Ladder 15, and The Raven Lounge.   Or you could join the party at the Piazza!  Admission is $20 ($25 at the door) with 7 DJ’s and 4 Bands beginning at noon.   Both Irish Pubs (11th & 20th Streets) are always a classic good time too.  Oh and for my gays you can always hit up the “Kiss me I’m Irish & Gay” party in the Gayborhood.  Everyone is truly Irish this weekend!

On Sunday start off the official holiday at Tir Na Nog with their Kegs ‘n Eggs party at 8AM.  They’ll have Irish live entertainment including Bogside Rogues, Irish dancers, pipes and drums.  Rumor has it that there will be an Irish photo booth!  Another favorite Irish Bar is Fado on Locust Street.   A $10 cover will get your in at 7AM for their Pints and Pancakes party until 10AM.  Then, the DJ starts at 3PM and they will also have live music and Irish dancers.   If this hasn’t been enough live music for you yet, then head over to World Café Live where they’ll have a “Rock it to the St. Patty’s Day Funk” party with SIX bands!  Saving the oldest for last, there is always McGillian’s Olde Ale House, which will feature green beer, Irish Stout, Irish Potato Martinis, and Chocolate Leprechaun Cocktails.

Whatever you choose to do, have fun, wear green, and BE SAFE!
