Despite the threat of inclement weather, Philadelphia’s 3rd annual all-white affair was a resounding success! Dressed to the nines, 3,500 diners made the cut for registration to the exclusive international pop up party, Diner en Blanc; the largest number of attendees yet to participate in the Philadelphia chapter.
Planned and executed by Co-Hosts Natanya DiBona and Kayli Moran, couples and groups clad in white awaited news of this year’s undisclosed location at designated points throughout Center City. Privy to the secret, Kate and Amanda kept their lips shut at the media table while myself and Victoria trekked the few blocks from PAFA to the Avenue of the Arts, where the evening’s festivities would take place.
City Hall proved to be a picture perfect backdrop for Thursday night’s party. A number of guests noted that this year’s transit and table set up was much smoother than in previous years – perhaps we’re all finally getting the hang of this uber-elegant French tradition? We are continuously struck by the camaraderie shared between attendees of all ages. We made the acquaintance of a number of fantastic table-mates and new friends, and guests were all happy to share everything from wine and cheese; to turns in the impromptu dance circle that was started on the dance floor; to an extra hand while making the expedition to our mystery location, with a dolly full of food and furniture in tow.
Though the event plays off as being immaculately posh and sophisticated, it felt comfortably authentic. It seemed that everyone had a wonderful time soaking up the last rays of daylight and enjoying the lights and buzz of Broad Street in an entirely new way. The night started off with a brief street performance by the Polish String Band, and gracefully came to a close with the help of DJ Bruce, a fan favorite from previous years. The Philly PR Girl team is glad to see such a fanciful event take off and grow at this astounding rate in the City of Brotherly Love. Is it 2015 yet? We’ll be waiting!
