ConKerr Cancer Lights Up the Please Touch Museum After Dark

As more than 1,000 pajama-clad guests of all ages walked through the doors of the Please Touch Museum last Friday, you could see the excitement as their eyes came across the bright pillowcases strung across the main entrance. The 2nd ConKerr Cancer PJ Party was certainly a night to remember for those with and without sickness alike. Founder Cindy Kerr says, “The PJ Party enables children in treatment and their families to have a fun night out away from the hospital and for the local community to come and support them.”

At the museum’s legendary, full-sized carousel, partygoers enjoyed scoops of Rita’s Water Ice, music, and much more. In another room, the Philadelphia Zoo introduced guests to their special visitors including a 19-year-old tortoise and a very active armadillo. The dance floor was packed all night with kids, Miss American Teenager pageant winners, Philadelphia Eagles cheerleaders and mascot SWOOP. The music only paused for the anticipated raffle, a live martial arts demonstration and a highly impressive choreographed routine.

Throughout the evening, all were welcome to explore the entire Please Touch Museum, while enjoying food and drinks, getting face paintings, taking photos in a handmade photobooth by Drexel University’s Westphal College, and sewing pillowcases to be donated to children coping with cancer in hospitals across the United States. NBC 10’s Glenn “Hurricane” Schwartz, former Eagles player and current co-host on 94 WIP Hollis Thomas, and Flyers alumni Bob Kelly and Todd Fedoruk were all there to take photos, sign autographs, and support the cause.

Philly PR Girl was honored to be a part of this inspiring event.  For updates and news on ConKerr Cancer, like/follow them on  Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. If you are interested in volunteering or donating to ConKerr Cancer visit www.conkerrcancer.org.
