Monday, October 28th

Tuesday, October 29th

  • David Cook at World Cafe Live – The winner of American Idol season 7 takes the stage at the World Cafe at 8 pm with opening band, The Alternate Routes. Doors open at 7, and tickets range from $19-32.
  • ONCE at the Academy of Music – The musical ONCE plays at the Academy of Music fromOctober 29th through November 10th. The winner of eight Tony music awards, ONCE tells a heartwarming story of two aspiring musicians whose chemistry quickly grows through the hauntingly beautiful music they produce.

Wednesday, October 30th

  • After Work Global Philly 13 Gathering – Latin American themed! GLOBAL PHILADELPHIA in partnership with AL DIA and MOIMA is organizing an afterwork Global Gathering on Wednesday October 30th at 5pm at La Calaca Feliz.  This event is open to general public and specifically to Global Philadelphians and International people interested by Latin-America (Arts, Business, Education, Cuisine, Travel…)
  • Happy Hour to Benefit Center for Literacy – Celebrate Oktoberfest at Brauhaus Schmitzand contribute to a great cause. $30 gets you bottomless beer from 5:30 to 8 pm – including liter mugs!
  • A Clockwork Orange – Creep yourself out with a live performance of Anthony Burgess’ literary classic by the Luna Theater Company. Their take on the novel-turned-film employs music, movement, and masks in a Commedia dell’arte inspired twist. Tickets are $25-30 general admission, and $15 for anyone under 30.

Thursday, October 31st

  • Bar-Ly Halloween Party – Wearing your Halloween costume to work? Come by Bar-Ly in Chinatown afterwards for drink specials and prizes. DJ Mr. Smith will be spinning from 10 pm to 2 am.
  • Godzilla Live – Playwright Yasuhiko Ohashi creates a live performance of the blockbuster film with real actors, sans rubber suits. Catch it at the URBN Center’s Black Box Theater on Drexel University’s campus from the 31st through November 9th. Tickets are $15 general admission, and $5 for students and faculty with ID.
  • Official Fireball Whisky Halloween Bash – Ladder 15 is hosting a Halloween party from 8 pm until 2 am. Costumes are optional, but competition offers $500 in cash prizes for those who choose to dress up. Admission is free, and Fireball specials will be running all night long.

Friday, November 1st

  • Pennsylvania Conference for Women – Philly PR Girl owner Kate Marlys will speak on “How to Maximize Your LinkedIn Presence” in a day-long conference that will attract over 5,000 attendees. This year’s keynote speakers include Madeleine Albright and Hillary Rodham Clinton.  If you are attending the conference stop by Kate’s session!
  • The Real Legend of Sleepy Hollow – An original musical based on the book by Washington Crane is playing at the TD Bank Arts Centre in Sewell. Celebrate Halloween with the classic, spooky story of Ichabod Crane, the Headless Horseman, and the village of Sleepy Hollow.

Saturday, November 2nd

  • Philadelphia Jewish Film Festival – Running from the 2nd through 16th, the Gershman Y’s PJFF hosts an exciting lineup of screenings, panel discussions, interviews, and audience Q&As, where half of the 18 films that will be showing are Philadelphia premieres. Single tickets are $12 ($7 for students), and a full festival pass is $180.
  • Indoor Antique & Vintage Flea Market – Philadelphia Flea Market launches its 4th season at 9th and Spring Garden for a full day of shopping. Peruse vintage and used items from 8 am through 4 pm and enjoy free parking and admission.
  • Schuylkill Regatta – The annual two-day race kicks off on Saturday morning, showcasing more rowing teams than any other competition in the world. The event is free and open to the public, but come early to find a good viewing spot on along Kelly Drive!
  • Vikings, Samurais, Super Heroes, Aliens, Military, and every hair-hopping warrior in between will strut down the runway to salute the “Universal Warriors” at City of Hope at the Universal Warrior Fantasy Hair Compitition at Voyeur.

Sunday, November 3rd

  • Coffee and Tea Festival – Over 40 exhibitors will be in attendance at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks for this weekend’s festival. Programming from industry leaders, pairings, and tastings of national brews and sweet and savory food pairings are scheduled. New York’s festival sold out, so be sure to get your tickets ahead of time here.
  • Brides, Bubbly & Brunch – PhillyMag will help with your wedding pampering and planning, from 11 am to 2 pm at the College of Physicians of Philadelphia. Exclusive Philadelphia Wedding vendors will offer inspiration, fashion, accessories and beauty tips will be offered, and guests will get a look at the latest in invitation design, decor and photography. Tickets are $25.
  • Day of the Dead Festival – The Penn Museum celebrate Dia de los Muertos during the final week of the Global Philly 2013 exposition. From 1 to 4 pm, enjoy music, storytelling, arts and crafts and other family-filled activities. Artist Cesar Viveros has creatd a traditional Mexican Day of the Dead altar for the event. Access is free with museum admission.
