Broadway Philadelphia Presents MOTOWN The Musical

MOTOWN the Musical

Motown the Musical will make you laugh, cry, sing, and dance!  Playing at the Academy of Music until January 18th,  this show covers the legacy of Berry Gordy and his journey in founding Motown. With a $800 loan from his family, Berry Gordy followed his dream and started a chart-topping, legacy-making music label. It’s a true American dream story!

The music is absolutely the star of the show, which features 40 classic hits including “My Girl” and “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough.” What also stands out is the history of Motown and the lasting cultural contributions it made, from the 1960’s on. Gordy and the talented artists signed to Motown changed the landscape of America through the universal language of music.

Berry Gordy discovered, developed and launched the careers of Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, Diana Ross and The Supremes, Stevie Wonder, The Temptations, Mary Wells, Jackson 5, and Marvin Gaye – just to name a few – whose smash hits are featured in Motown the Musical. Trust us when we say you will be singing and dancing throughout the whole show! Tickets are now available at kimmelcenter.org/broadway.

Broadway Philadelphia is presented collaboratively by The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts and The Shubert Organization with productions at the Academy of Music, Forrest Theatre, and Merriam Theater.  In addition to Motown the Musical, the 2015 Broadway Philadelphia season will include The Illusionists (February 24 – March 1); Annie (March 17 – 22); Dirty Dancing (March 24 – April 5); and Kinky Boots (April 28 – May 10).
