Client Overview

The Sandy Rollman Ovarian Cancer Foundation, Inc., is a non-profit, 501(c)3 organization created as a tribute to the life, character, and immense strength of Sandy Rollman.

Sandy passed away from advanced ovarian cancer in May 2000.

Before diagnosis, Sandy experienced many textbook symptoms. Her symptoms were whispering only no one was listening. The tragic result was that Sandy never had a chance against ovarian cancer.

The Mission: To fight for those who are fighting, speak for those who have fallen silent, and provide for those who are working towards the end of ovarian cancer.

Our Strategy

Philly PR Girl was contacted by CEO, Co-Founder, and oncology nurse, Robin Cohen, in March of 2022 to amplify the mission of her foundation. Driven by Robin’s vision, we outlined 3 key objectives: press coverage, event support, and increased visibility with the underlying ask of bringing awareness to Ovarian Cancer.

Leveraging our extensive network, we developed a PR plan to achieve these goals.

Harnessing the momentum of Women’s History Month in March, we strategically spotlighted the foundation, culminating in significant media coverage surrounding its flagship event, ‘Sandy Sprint Philadelphia’, notably the first in-person post-COVID gathering. Our focused efforts extended to World Ovarian Cancer Day, securing local and national media and press coverage, and gathering opportunities for grants, funding, and donations, thereby solidifying the foundation's monumental impact and reach.

Key Media Wins

Philly PR Girl effectively showcased the Sandy Rollman Ovarian Cancer Foundation in significant ways, garnering local and national recognition.

Through our tactical efforts, the Sandy Rollman Ovarian Cancer Foundation received a publication-wide audience of over 5 million across media outlets. Robin Cohen was honored with the ‘Be Well Philly Health Hero’ Award, acknowledging the foundation and Robin as a trailblazer in wellness within the Philadelphia community. This prestigious accolade not only elevated the foundation’s profile but also resulted in a remarkable $15,000 donation!

Moreover, our initiatives attracted the attention of The Drew Barrymore Show, allowing Robin to travel to New York City and have an engaging and meaningful discussion with Drew Barrymore about the foundation's impactful work during her segment, Drew Gooders. Drew shared the foundation's story with HALARA, an athleisure brand, who in turn donated $10,000 towards the continued mission of the nonprofit!

With the help of our partnerships and communication, The Sandy Rollman Ovarian Cancer Foundation continues to see growth and accomplish their mission. They have cultivated a “Taylor Swift-like” army of supporters that have expanded the organization's reach and events to Los Angeles, Florida, and New Jersey. Our efforts have led to significant fundraising and increased awareness about Ovarian Cancer detection.

Philly PR Girl’s expertise in fostering meaningful and impactful relationships allows us to produce relevant and powerful results, proving that our services are an invaluable contribution.
