Hadestown is Coming to Philadelphia

Eight-time Tony Award and Grammy-winning Broadway production Hadestown is on tour and making its first stop in Philadelphia! The mastermind of the music, lyrics, and storyline, Anaïs Mitchell, began her journey with this concept back in 2010 when she released this concept album. Now, a decade later, Mitchell’s work has made it to Broadway!

Hadestown tells the story of two tales, a young blooming couple, Orpheus and Eurydice, and the marriage of King Hades and wife Persephone. The show leads you on a journey to the underworld and back while wasting no time showing real relationship obstacles rather than the typical romance shows out there. The music Mitchell created is nothing short of poetic genius creating imagery through the melody.

The Hadestown show is filled with a fantastic cast lineup, and for many, this is not their first appearance in the limelight. Morgan Siobhan Green, who plays Eurydice, has blossomed into an incredible actress starring in previous roles in Burning Man: The Musical and Freeform show The Bold Type.

The impressive casting doesn’t stop there for Hadestown. Kimberly Marable, who will play Persephone in the Hadestown show, is no stranger to Broadway. Marable has had exceptional roles in many known shows on Broadway, starring in The Lion King, Sister Act, Dreamgirls, and Hairspray.

So Philly, grab your tickets soon because this is a must-see show! Hadestown will be showing at the Kimmel Cultural Center with opening night starting on February 9. The Hadestown show will be in Philadelphia until February 20, having matinee and evening shows. Tickets are on sale now!
