Ways to Participate in This Year’s Giving Tuesday

Every Tuesday after Thanksgiving, we celebrate Giving Tuesday. With the holiday season underway, Giving Tuesday celebrates the concept of sharing with others. Philly PR Girl has a list of local Philadephia nonprofits to work with. These charities not only help better our community but empower others to give back as well.  Keep reading to learn how you can participate in this year’s Giving Tuesday.

Big Brothers Big Sisters Independence Region

Big Brothers Big Sisters Independence enriches, encourages and empowers children to reach their highest potential through safe, one-to-one mentoring relationships. They create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth, while working collaboratively to strengthen the quality of the mentoring field and close the mentoring gap. They’re always looking for volunteers to serve as “Big Brothers” or “Big Sisters”! If you’re interested in becoming a “Big” or to support, visit their website!

Pickup Please

Pick Up Please

Pick Up Please is America’s best clothing donation service. They support various cities across the nation and accept donations. Such donations may be clothing, household goods, books, shoes, small appliances, electronics. You can help America’s Veterans and their families by donating used items you no longer have the need for.

Ronald Mcdonald House Charities

Ronald McDonald House supports families around the world with access to the resources they need. Hosting 1.4 million overnight stays each year, they’ve helped families save over $443 million in lodging and meal expenses. This organization hopes to create a world where all children have access to medical care and their families are supported and actively involved in their children’s care. You can get involved by volunteering, fulfilling a wish list, or hosting a fundraiser for children and their families.

A Kid Again – Philadelphia Chapter

A Kid Again Philadelphia Chapter caters to families who are raising children with life-threatening diseases in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, and New York. Their purpose is to give kids a sense of normalcy by providing a communal and interactive environment for their loved ones. These experiences complement but do not overtake their day-to-day living at home or in the hospital. With the support of various donors and an immense volunteer network, the organization is able to accomplish its mission and be a beacon of hope.

The Evoluer House

The Evoluer House helps produce strong female leadership in the workforce and in society, by investing in young women and girls and their collective well-being and power. Their curriculums are designed to promote emotional, mental, and social well-being, equip girls with the tools they need to become college-bound and career-ready, and break the cycle of intergenerational poverty. Evoluer House provides a safe community for girls to share experiences and learn both from and alongside one another.
