Who’s ready for a new week of fun activities in Philadelphia? It may be the last week in April, but the events are on! This week, you can take acting and comedy classes, learn new art techniques, visit a museum and so much more! As the weather continues to get warmer, outside time is what we’re looking forward to! Grab your friends or family, or even hang solo, and explore our beautiful city and all it has to offer!

Here’s what’s happening #ThisWeekInPhilly: 

April 26:

  • Ever wanted to try standup comedy? Here’s your chance! The Philadelphia Comedy Academy is offering an ongoing workshop that will focus on developing a five-minute comedy set! At the end of the workshop, you’ll perform your set at Punchline Philly! Sounds cool right?! Register and sign up today for this amazing opportunity!
  • Calling all actors and aspiring actors! Come learn everything you need to know about acting for Film & Television at the Actors ShowReel Class! Whether you’re a seasoned professional or looking to launch your acting career, this class is an amazing opportunity to learn the tools and techniques needed to grow! The class is in-person.There are only eight actors allowed per session so hurry and register! 

April 27

  • The Center for Art in Wood presents Sip & WiP! This free event, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., is where you can enjoy a fun evening showing your creative “work in progress” (WiP) while sipping on the beverage on your choice from your home! This series is a perfect opportunity to network with other artists and gain some inspo! Register online today and you’ll receive a ZOOM link! 

April 28

  • Philly is known for its amazing museums, and one of them is back open and ready to have you! Fireman’s Hall Museum is excited to welcome you back! Grab your family for a fun day at one of the best fire museums in the nation! The museum will be operating at reduced capacity and is requiring that all guests wear a mask. Tickets are free, but you will need to reserve your tickets online in advance! 
  • Come and visit the West Gallery at the Parkway Central Library for a self-guided tour of their new exhibit Making Her Mark: Philadelphia Women Fight for the Vote! We all know that much of our nation’s history is rooted in Philly, but did you know that our women fought for voting rights? That’s right! The exhibit will feature stories of Philadelphia women who contributed to voting rights! Register for your tickets online!

April 29

  • Urban Movement Arts is having an Outdoor HipHop Party! Come out for a day of fun and dancing! The event is from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. and is promising to be a real party!   • Spring is here and that means gardening! Growing your own food is one of the most rewarding things you can do, and now you can learn how! How to Grow Anything: Food Gathering for Everyone is a free workshop where you can learn how to garden like a pro. There’s nothing like fresh grown fruits and veggies straight from your garden! April 30

  • The Wissahickon Environmental Center is hosting a City Nature Challenge! This event is from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Come explore and discover the tadpoles, toads, bats and other species found at the ponds! All ages are welcomed and everyone is required to wear a mask while participating! Register for this free event today! 
  • Join Intercultural Journeys and Sisters Cities Girlchoir for “When I Sing,” a celebration of power and creativity of voices! The virtual event is at 7:30 p.m. and is free to register! The creative prompt of this event is the life, art, and activism of Philadelphia’s own Marian Anderson. Enjoy beautiful music that will tell a story! Register today.  

May 1

  • Who’s ready for a Virtual Evening of Jazz with the West Palm Beach Center for Arts and Technology! This performance will feature an exciting mix of prerecorded music! The beauty of virtual events is that you’re able to attend no matter where you are! The event is from 7 p.m.  to 8:30 p.m.! Register online today!!
  • Come visit the new Faith and Liberty Discovery Center on Philadelphia’s Independence Mall! This interactive and immersive experience was designed to guide you through a personal exploration of the relationship between faith and liberty! The experience is led by a team of top experts, historians and legal scholars. Prepare to learn and be inspired! Register online for the museum’s opening! 

May 2

  • *Location 215 Presents: Spring Arts Garden Pop-up event!  Located in the heart of the spring arts district, Location 215 offers an enjoyable indoor/outdoor experience. You have plenty to look forward to at this event! Vendors, artists, cocktails, and even an outdoor skate park! This is a spring event you won’t want to miss!
