This Week in Philly: March 8th-13th

There are so many exciting things happening #ThisWeekInPhilly that you do not want to miss! This week is all about learning, relaxing and entertainment. From guided Sahaja Yoga online meditation to fashion talks, you can learn amazing new skills and tips from professionals right from your living room! There’s also an empower and support conference happening to celebrate International Women’s History Day on Monday! Keep reading for more information.

March 8:

  • I can’t think of a better way to celebrate women this International Women’s History Day than to attend the International Women’s Day: Empower and Support conference. This online conference will feature six inspirational women in business who will share their knowledge and tips. Admission is free for German American Chambers of Commerce members and $25 for non-members.
  • The Wellness Collective** presents:  Healing From The Inside Out Panel! At this panel event, you’ll be able to better understand your ability to heal yourself! During these crazy times, self reflection and healing is a need! This virtual event will take place at 7 p.m. and is being hosted on International Women’s History Day to celebrate being an all female company! 

March 9:

  • Gather your kids for the Free Library of Philadelphia’s virtual story time at 10 a.m.! Penny the Bunny and Miss Carole will be leading stories and songs that you can find on the Drexel Branch Library Facebook page. The library will be hosting their virtual story times every Tuesday morning, so this is the perfect routine to start with your children!
  • Job Fair Pro has teamed up with Best Hire Career Fairs to offer an amazing opportunity for Philadelphians. This career fair will allow you to interview and meet with some of the top hiring companies in the city. You’ll be able to learn about the businesses that are hiring and what their hiring needs are. Now’s the time to make a great first impression!

March 10:

  • Calling all fashion lovers! Join Rohil Kumar, the creator of the UK streetwear brand Night Addict, as he talks about how Covid restrictions helped his brand double its revenue. This is an amazing opportunity for business owners to gain ideas about how to grow their brands during the pandemic. This free online event is from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. EST.   • A Concert? Yes, please! The Philly Festival Brass Quintet will be performing at the Wintergarden on the Greenfield Lawn from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. This ensemble is deeply rooted in the Philly music scene. Everyone attending this outdoor event is required to wear a mask and social distance.

March 11:

  • Join The Chamber of Commerce for Greater Philadelphia as they explore the intersection of design and real estate! This panel discussion will touch on topics like how innovative creations can help Philadelphia’s creative community thrive. The virtual event is from 11 a.m. to noon. Admission is free and you can register here.
  • Knowledge is power, and the academic seminar is sure to be informative! The seminar is a bi-annual presentation on topics involving nutrition care. Join Professor Maya Clark-Cutaia for a discussion on dietary sodium restriction. The webinar will take place from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., and is free admission! March 12:

  • Reading Terminal is a top tourist destination known for its amazing food! The terminal will host a Spring Showcase to highlight seasonal/holiday groceries and prepared food. Starting at 10 a.m., more than 40 small businesses will feature their special dishes, groceries and gifts. The event will take place in the Rick Nicholas Room and is free admission! Please remember to practice COVID safety precautions. 
  • To honor Women’s History Month, the Philadelphia Kimmel Center is inviting you to experience the stories of past and present women trailblazers. Although the Kimmel’s doors are currently closed, you can still be entertained and informed by the “Seat at the Table’s” virtual presentation. This is a free admission event. 

March 13:

  • Come Alive 215 has partnered with Fitler Club Boot Camp to bring you a workout session that you don’t want to miss. For 45 minutes, you’ll experience a heart-pumping bootcamp, with a live DJ! To honor Women’s History Month, they will be featuring women-owned businesses including Sugar Bar Salon*! Doors open at 9 a.m. and will be capped at 50 non-Filer club members.   • Have fun this Saturday with a photoshoot! Shoott is offering a free photoshoot at the beautiful scenery of Rittenhouse Square! Your Shoott session will be 30 minutes and social distancing friendly! It’s complimentary to book and there is no obligation to buy, so you can only pay for the photos you absolutely love or you can just go for the experience!
  • There’s so much to do this week! As events begin to slowly pick back up in Philly, it’s important that we remember to be safe!
