It’s hard to fathom that this week brings September. Just like *that* it seems like summer is unofficially coming to an end and Labor Day Weekend is upon us. That being said, there are plenty of options to close out the season with a bang! Tag us when you’re out and about with #ThisWeekInPhilly.

Monday, August 26
  • The restaurant queens of 13th Street, Marcie Turney and Valerie Safran, are hosting Paella & Sangria Night at Jamonera. For $38/per person, the table gets a variety of apps to share, a choice of paella, and a choice pitcher of sangria. 
  • Beaucycled is bringing their Cactus & Crystals Workshop to Morgan’s Pier. Learn how to care for your own succulent arrangement while DIYing it with a wide variety of crystals and vintage teacup planters to choose from. 
Tuesday, August 27
  • KG Strong hosts a 60-minute Rooftop Yoga class at Bok Bar starting at 6pm. Afterwards, enjoy exclusive access to the Bok Bar, which is typically closed to the public on Tuesdays.
  • See if you’ve got what it takes to be a “Prefect” at Harry Potter Trivia on the books at Field House. Starting at 7:30pm, there will be FIVE rounds of Ordinary Wizarding Levels that will challenge your memory of the beloved stories.
Wednesday, August 28
  • Heartthrob Shawn Mendes is bringing his eponymous tour to Philadelphia with special guest Alessia Cara. The show at Wells Fargo Center begins at 7:30pm. 
  • Milano Di Rouge* hosts a Back to School Block Party on Spring Garden Street. Come celebrate as they fill 500 backpacks with school supplies before the school year starts. Guests can enjoy food and entertainment throughout the evening.
Thursday, August 29
  • Fresh off a 3-0 win against Ireland, USWNT Victory Tour is coming to Philadelphia for their second match-up: Portugal. More than 44,100 tickets to the Lincoln Financial Field soccer match have been sold, breaking the record for the largest crowd for a stand-alone friendly game for the U.S. Women.
  • BESPOKE home + life in Collingswood, NJ hosts MacraMadeByNatalie for a DIY macrame workshop. This fun BYOB class includes step-by-step instruction and supplies to create a design in your choice of colors and materials. So bring a bottle of wine and let your crafty creativity flow! 
Friday, August 30
  • Come to Goose Island Brewhouse for America’s Next Top Pet! This yappy hour event lets your pup strut their stuff with a photo shoot with photographer Jill McCorkel. You’ll get professional headshots, playful action shots, and one free house beer for you. Tickets are donations that go towards Morris Animal Refuge. 
  • Take a hands-on approach for dinner at the Pizza Workshop hosted by La Colombe Torrefaction. Fishtown Cafe’s Head Baker, John McGrath, teaches you how to mix, shape, ferment, and stretch the dough. Then, prepare a variety of sauces and toppings.
  • Sing and dance the night away with A Very Drag & Burlesque Tribute Show to Ariana Grande at L’Etage. Hosted by Josh Schonewolf, all the pop princess’ hits will be performed by some of the most exciting burlesque stars and drag performers in town.

  • Temple University Owls football team take on Bucknell University in the first home game of the season at Lincoln Financial Field.
