After the July 4th long weekend, we hope you’re ready for more fun this week in Philly. From beer gardens to block parties, there’s always a reason for summer celebrations to continue! 


Monday, July 8
  • Join Jazz Attack and The Deck as they swing the boat aboard The Deck on the Moshulu. A $5 cover includes access to the live band, as well as a beautiful venue happy hour. 
  • Think you’re a ping pong pro? Join SPIN Philadelphia for a fun-filled ping pong tournament in celebration of Wimbledon.

  • Sip and mingle with fellow Owls at this year’s Temple Takeover at Center City Sips in Dilworth Park. University alumni will be able to enjoy extended happy hour specials and themed drinks.
  • Morgan’s Pier is hosting Monthly Mini Beer Fests. Each event will have a new theme featuring four different breweries each month. For just $10, you get a 12 oz pour from each brewery, plus the chance to chat with the makers.
Thursday, July 11
  • Lights! Camera! Action! Your favorite free movie series is back. Celebrate summer at the cinema at Screening Under the Stars at the Great Plaza at Penn’s Landing. This week, perfectly themed, will be showing Captain Marvel!
  • Think you know everything about Grey’s Anatomy? See if you have what it takes to pass your exams at City Tap House University City Quizzo night.

  • The Annual Bastille Day Block Party is back in Fairmount! This FREE family-friendly event has eight different live music performances, entertainment from games to raffles, a food station, and beer trucks.
  • Live music fills the al fresco space at 39th and Walnut Streets for the 40th annual Street Summer Series. Talented musicians and entertainers perform an array of acts for attendees at the series of free outdoor concerts.
  • If you’re obsessed with the sitcom Friends, The One Where They Play Trivia is for you. Starting at JJ Bootleggers, the multi-bar crawl includes themed drinks, lots of drink and food specials, 90s DJ party… and 75 questions to compete against hundreds of other crawlers to determine who is the TV-series trivia champ.
Sunday, July 14
  • Second Sundays at the Mütter Museum presents Meditation in the Garden. Take time to unwind in the beautiful bounty of the Benjamin Rush Medicinal Plant Garden, open to all levels of experience.
  • Meet at SouthStar Lofts to be transported to a relaxing day at Lancaster Farm Sanctuary. Once there, you’ll find meditation and yoga among the animals, a catered plant based lunch from Soy Café, and free time to explore the farm.
  • The third Barnes on the Block, presented in partnership with Mural Arts Philadelphia, is FREE and bigger than ever this year. Don’t miss food trucks, raffles, music, and a day filled with your favorite local art.
