Photo Pop Philly Returns for Summer 2019 With New Theme & Location

In case you’ve missed all the buzz, Photo Pop Philly* is poppin’ up again this summer! After a successful season last year, the immersive experience returns to Philadelphia this May. We are excited to introduce the new theme: Sweet Paradise in a new location. Set in the heart of Old City at The Bourse, a newly-restored food hall, Photo Pop’s one-of-a-kind exhibit brings its energy to the historic neighborhood.

“The Bourse is a dream venue for us, and we expect returning Photo Pop fans to be blown away by our new exhibit and this iconic location,” says Kate Marlys, founder of Photo Pop Philly. “We can’t wait to spend the summer here creating unforgettable experiences for our guests!”

Of course, the stars of the show are the interactive pop-up experiences. With over 25 installations and works from local artists, Sweet Paradise is about finding fantastical elements in everyday life. Local Philadelphia creatives behind the exhibit include artists such as Ali Williams and Kristen Taylor. Guests will enjoy a whimsical wonderland of selfie-worthy art, sensational murals, exciting installations, and endless photo opportunities!

In addition, The Photo Pop team has worked hard to ensure sweet surprises lie around every corner. Visitors from all backgrounds can find their style within the space. Multiple artists will present ideas of what “Sweet Paradise” means to them in The Pop Art Gallery. Expect works from Emily Taylor, Symone Salib, Ryan Evans, Joshua Ruggeri, Weston Welch, Tori Alexandra, and Perry Milou.

Photo Pop Philly makes its return with a lineup of buzzworthy partners like Philadelphia Flyers beloved mascot, Gritty! We are proud to partner with BluEdge for another year, as well as introduce Yelp as a new sponsor. Also new is Xplore VR Studios, which will be creating a cool virtual reality experience inside the exhibit.

On May 15 and May 16, Photo Pop Philly: Sweet Paradise celebrates its grand opening! Starting with a special ribbon cutting ceremony, May 15 is the official first day of the exhibit. However, both nights include unforgettably fun experiences with food, drinks, and entertainment from 7-9 p.m. During the festivities, Photo Pop Philly alumni Benjamin J Howard and Alloyius will create amazing live works of art. Limited tickets are still available, so hurry and buy yours now!

Plus, for the second consecutive year, Photo Pop is excited to be part of Wawa Welcome America. The multi-day festival features FREE multicultural and multi-generational events. All festivities aim to celebrate America’s birthday in America’s birthplace – Philadelphia.  On July 1 and 3 from 9 to 11 a.m., Photo Pop will offer free admission for the public.
