RENT

The 1996 original rock musical is making its way to the Kimmel Center stage to execute what forever changed the landscape of American theatre. Two decades later, RENT continues to speak loudly and defiantly to audiences across generations, regardless of race or creed. Witness the vibrant 20th anniversary touring production and its reimagining of Puccini’s La Bohème and the rest of its award-winning soundtrack. Leave with an inspiring message of joy and hope in the face of fear. Come out to measure your life with love with the cast of RENT for a night you won’t forget.

This Changes Everything by Tom Donahue

Miss Saigon

From the creators of Les Misérables comes the new production of Broadway’s Miss Saigon. Follow the story of Kim, a young Vietnamese woman, who meets an American G.I. in an encounter that changes their lives forever. The cast and score of this sensational spectacle brings hits like “Last Night of the World,” “The Movie in My Mind,” and “The Heat is On in Saigon.”

Monterey Jazz Festival on Tour

The 2019 Monterey Jazz Festival returns to touring with its Grammy-winning band featuring a top roster of diverse and international millennial talent and the leaders of jazz’s future. The group presents its fifth national tour featuring some of the greatest critically-acclaimed jazz artists of their generation. The lineup includes three winners of the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition.

Nickelodeon’s Double Dare Live

On your mark, get set, go… to the messiest game show on the road. The popular Nickelodeon show is coming the Kimmel Center with all the excitement and action of the original. Beware of the Slime-soaking, pie-plastering, and booger-busting action. As always, the show is hosted by Philadelphia native and Double Dare legend, Marc Summers! Romeo and Juliet

Immerse yourself in the music that brings Shakespeare’s immortal tragedy come alive by the Philadelphia Orchestra. A complete treat if you’ve never witnessed the ballet, you’ll love the Prokofiev’s searing score and how it captures the heartbreak of this immortal story. Brian Sanders, Philadelphia-based choreographer will bring an edgy perspective with performers utilizing unique materials and aerial techniques. Witness what you will find to be a totally new take on this classic ballet.

Anastasia

At last! The romantic and adventure-filled new musical Anastasia is on a journey to Philadelphia. Watch this dazzling show transport the audience from the prime of the Russian Empire to the euphoria of Paris in the 1920s. Follow along as Anastasia sets out to unfold the mysteries of her past. Bring the family to embark on an epic journey to revealing the importance of home, love, and family.

Pride & Joy: The Marvin Gaye Musical

April 10 – 21 | 3:00 pm, 7:30 pm, 8:00 pm

Get ready for the greatest Motown love story, as told by Anna Gordy Gaye. Witness the love between her and the iconic R&B artist, Marvin Gaye. You’ll be dancing in your seats to the musical’s 28 songs. Of course, it will feature the legendary Motown catalogue and Marvin Gaye’s greatest hits. Watch the tale unfold behind the man and his music.

PHILADANCO: Dance Philly Style

April 12 – 14 | 2:30 pm, 7:30 pm
Perelman Theater

PHILADANCO showcases how live action dancers have impacted the television dance competition craze. Come to witness the work of audience favorite Philly-made choreographers from the late Gene Hill Sagan and exciting premieres from Rennie Harris and Dawn Marie Bazemore. The performance will feature African American traditions, socio-political issues, and other culturally relevant themes. Experience the incomparable legacy of African American choreographers that have a story to tell through dance!
